    droplord, those two '59 Chevies, are actually LCF's, (Low Cab forwards), & not COE's. The cab forward trucks actually have the engine forward of the cab, whereas the COE's have the engine under the cab.

    The sheet metal on this truck had only 53,000 mi. A friend gave me (2) bread trucks that had been modified to resemble prison transports for the filming of a movie. One had been rolled, the other was pretty good. I replaced the lower side on the good one. I cut the box off just ahead of the sliding doors. In the next installment I will show the box closed up. It is good to be on board here.

    I know I am showing the build in an odd order, it is the best I can do. I moved the "nose cap" of the Grumman back and fabricated a new front panel and corners. I cut in a window in the front of the box to accept a sliding window to match the one in the cab. My intent is to have a "sleeper capsule" in the front of the box, that is removable,with the windows it will have a "pass-thru" to the cab.The capsule will have it's own vent to the outside, so we won't have to breath the fumes of the Hot Rod or race car riding in the back.

    I used 1" .083 wall tube, I have several of those carts, I just modify them as needed for the current application. Mig welded (nothing fancy).

    Instrument cluster .090 aluminum. A real trucker has to have a tach you know.

    What size of truck was yours originally? Mine is a 750 and it came with a tach.

    Mine also has the Lincoln 368.

    Yes they are 16's. I would like a bit larger tire and wheel combo, But I will stay with steel budds, regardless of size. Also thanks for the kind words guys.

    A couple more shots of the front of box, and one taken outside getting the cab back on.

    This one is a 48 that I started, Dodge motorhome chassis, it had a 440 engine moved back and down in the frame. I sold it to a friend, who mounted a 460 Ford and C-6 in it. He is a master body man, it is now highly detailed and ready for a shiny black paint job. It got a good home, I will post some finished pics later this year.

    Hey Uncle Johnny;
    What was your method for getting the double-hump belt line into the panels you made for that bed? They really look nice. I need to do the same for a project I hope to start in a couple months. Thanks in advance for your help!

    Looks like a good chassis choice, fits the body well.

    This thread makes me want a COE.
