Im so close to having the truck ready for torquefest, but I think the whole...getting it titled thing is gunna keep me from gettin it there. Ill still come, but Ill just be moping around all sad because I drove a trailblazer there instead of a 42' Dodge...

Zaq - just trailer it up here. I know there are a million guys out there telling you that is lame....but I wont be one of them.
I understand how it goes on limited time and budget.
My car cant even make it 34 miles without breaking down.
....cause I just dont have the $$$ to put in the car.
so it sits and I wind up trailering it to Bombs Away Bash and Cheaterama.
I go around the town with it - but it is certainly not a long hauler.......
and you are in a position that you cant legally drive the car - so - trailer it to Torque Fest - then you can at least have the car there.
    OK.
Let the negative feedback start about how uncool it is to trailer a car....
    I know...
    I know....

  5. Dont let the bastards get you down jus get it there!

Here's my auction contribution. Hopefully in the mail today. For those of you who will be there (wish I could) c'mon and help out Hannah and bid some big bucks.

    Zaq,
Don't be so hard on yourself. At this point your situation, "is what it is".
Sometimes in life you just have to adapt and overcome. Yeah, you would have more fun if you were able to drive your hot rod from IL to IA, but that may not be feasable given the current status of your title.

Look at the positives of trailering your truck to Torque Fest
-Your hot rod WILL be there
-You will get to drive it into the fairgrounds
-You will be supporting T.F., John and Hannah
-Everyone will get to see it
-You will be beaming with pride as everyone drools over it
-You won't be walking around bummed out all day

Trust me, you will regret not bringing it. Last Autumn we just finished an 18 month build on my hot rod. There was a great car show 4 1/2 hrs away. Thats a long way to drive a car that is untested with no shakedown run. I had access to an enclosed trailer but opted not to take my car. OOHH the regret I had as I arrived in my daily driver. Who gives a shit what anyone else thinks! Besides, you have John's blessing and that's all that matters. Now get that damn thing on a trailer and have some FUN at TORQUE FEST!! :D

Got me a mini bike last night. Now I have what, like 40 days to get it built and a sidecar so the boy can ride along. My wife is so "proud" of me for bringing that thing home:rolleyes:. I will be there for sure. If you want to let him ride the barstool, that's up to you, at least we have tought him that the throttle is not a toggle switch. On or off with no in between. Are you bringing Mrs. Toe this year? Or toughing it out alone again? See you in a few weeks. Maybe we'll get a burger or steak sammich. Mmmm steak.

  11. Even mrs toe wont be seen with me n who could blame her! Hell im so ugly even i dont wanna be seen with me! n you know im all about the FOOD!

Been sanding the 2nd coat of primer on my Mom's Caddy.......all 18ft of it....... Now we're waiting for the UPS man for parts for the final assembly thrash. Counting down the days, and wishing there were more hrs in them!

Thanks guys. And I wasnt sure about trailering it, because I thought it was kind of known that, if its seen coming in on a trailer, its not allowed in. Because I had thought of trailering it to Maqouketa or a surronding town, and then driving it from there, knowing that it will be so full of hot rods, the chance of me getting pulled over it unlikely...
I was probably going to have a chase trailer anyways because of the fact that even if I get it titled by then, it will be maybe a week, and thats not enough time to get out all of the bugs....

Well, If I have Johns blessing, I might just have to see about getting it there title or no title, just as long as theres no rain. lol. damn velocity stacks and no hood.

Question to you John, if I pre-register, what happens if a volunteer that happens to see it on a trailer, doesnt allow me in?

  15. Doug,..it'll be nice to see ya on some wheels, get that mini goin...

  16. Trailered mine last year n nobody said a word! Coarse i drove the hell outa it once i got there so you shouldnt have to much of a hassle!

I am not so naive to know that people trailer their rides to shows....ALL OVER.
Guys trailer their cars to Iola and drive them to Symco Shakedown.
People trailer their cars to KC for Greaserama and leave the trailers in the hotel....
    it happens everywhere....
We want everyone to drive their cars.
    That is the ultimate reward.
And going on the cruise on Friday and driving on the track on Saturday...
    that is a good time.
We HAVE to have some people trailer their cars.
If people think Jack Walker is going to drive his 777 Award Winner aka The Kustom of the Year "The Phoenix".....well...that is just silly.
Do I want people to trailer their cars to the show?
    no
do I realize that some HAVE to.....?
    yes.
Getting the rides to the show and having a good time is most important in my mind.
    Others will disagree.
    That is OK.
There are a lot of opinions on this and I am sure I am in the minority.
But I would love to have the ride there.
And ya never know - you may not even have it titled next year at this time!!!
    ha
    so
    come on out man....
    have a good time.
If you can bring the car - bring it.

31 days to get your asses out in the shop and get that pile of parts beat into a car. I guess I am like the Cubs, maybe next year but I have something a little smaller up my sleeve.

Makin plans to see if my old bomb will be able to make the trip. Should be a nice drive, if it makes it.

All the pre registration packets have been sent. Volunteers will be sent out tomorrow.
    Thanks everyone!
And we are still taking pre reg until April 25.

And Bobwop - you are not gonna like this show - cause you only like shows where gold chainers go.
    Ha!
Bobwop is actually gonna show a car in the invite section of the show!!!
    THANKS
