    gotta love these gassers. nice.

  3. Thanks Stan.

  4. Dennis and Carrol Coker came by for a visit over the week end and brought me a few surprises. The first pic of the car is the original Tutone
White/Maroon. Then someone pulled a left hand turn in front of him, so he
repaired the sheet metal and painted it Bahama Blue. The Riverside Hot Rod Magazine Nationals trophy is from the Inagural race in 1964. The pic in Hot Rod Deluxes year book is the same race where he won E/Gas and this trophy. The two tall trophys are for class at the '62 and '64 Winternationals. IMAG0508.jpg

  5. ..,later, when he replaced the rearend with a 57 Pontiac, he cut the rear wheel wells, changed the trim from 210 to 150 and painted it red. IMAG0516.jpg

  6. .., Carrol his wife said she got tired of seeing the black steelies on the front with Halibrands on the rear, so she borrowed the money from her grandmother to buy the five spoke mags for the front (Riverside picture). Later, they had the car "professionally lettered" by Dennis/Chris Jones (can't remember the first name)

  7. Dennis nor his wife know yet, but I'm taking the '56 to Larry Fators tomorrow and have him put Dennis name, competition #424 and class designation back on the car. He won't know until he see's it at the GNRS deal at Pomona. PS. They don't own a computer so don't go tell'n em

  9. Dennis name and competion number back on the '56 46 years later. I took some liberty with the "B/G" as that is the class the car would have been in
had he kept it and progressed into faster classed with 400 + cubes. Can't wait to see the look on his and Car IMAG0552.jpg

  12. Got a nice little mention in the new issue of Hot Rod Deluxe. Thanks Dave Wallace and all the guys at the magazine IMAG0694.jpg for caring. Ric.

  13. Too cool fer school! Whattaya think it's gonna turn when it's all sorted out?

  14. It should have enough muscle to go 10.60's-10.80's/125-130. It has 4.30's with a 3.27 first 5 speed. If I leave it in 4th, its the same as having a 5.23 out back. I took 27 grams off the clutch counter weight and now it practically hooks on the street with a small burn out. Just found out today that Irwindale is back in business, so I'm gonna get a "test session" in asap.

Was that problem at the Moon Eyes Christmas Show?. The car looked like when a student driver is learning to drive a stick car at times.

  16. That is the BEST, seeing the old girl run again.....you made a lot of people smile :).

  17. The problem at Moon Eyes was an ignition short through the old amp gauge. At first I though it was a fuel system problem, but in the car it was just like turning the ignition on and off a bunch of times. After I got home I started going throught ignition and wiring and found the problem. I also moved the coil inside the car right behind the distibutor. Now the coil wire is only 3 inches long, instead of a foot and a half. It was embarassing, the way the car acted, but not my first pass in a stick car. Those were my first passes in this car, just working out some bugs.

Just my way of describing the pass. I could see it was not driver related. I could hear you trying to sort it out. Clearly it was the car.

OHHH YEAAAAAHHHH! You're gonna love the throttle response from that mechanical injection and hate constantly tuning it. For your car though, that'll be killah looking.
