I don't really give two flying turds where it comes from. I can't wait to get my hands on one of these new 5 windows and chop the top, lean the windshield posts back like a tree in a goddamned West Texas wind storm, put a little rake in the roof, put the body on a Jitney Hiboy Chassis, install a 327 with my Cragar/Walden 4-71 blower setup, pull that make believe Tiawan imported body (with all of the other after market shit that it will be built with because you can't find good parts anymore) out in front of the shop and do a screamin' smokey burnout with so much smoke and noise that you won't even give a shit were the damn body came from because it is now a HOT ROD. Now that is settled we should all get a goodnights sleep so we can get up in the morning refreshed, and go back to work building our hotrods. I personally think that would the best solution to this problem.
As a side note: I hope that I can get a customer to build the above described coupe. I also can't afford the cost of " modern" HotRods so, I have to live vicariously through my customers!!!LOL

There was an original body at the Hot Rod and Restoration show over the weekend wearing the United Pacific doors and decklid and garnish mouldings. It looked to me like everything fit pretty decent.......as good as Henry's ever did. Also new latches were on the car and seemed to operate quite well.

  6. Bobby, I think you hit the nail right on the head.

  7. I also saw the UP body at the Hot Rod & Restoration trade show in Indy. I was very impressed with what I saw. The rep told me they were very close to production and the next time the demo was displayed it would be 100% new. Said they were selling lots of floor rails, garnish moldings, door locks, trunk lids, etc. to builders with original 32s. He also restated the $22K price.

Before I draw any final conclusions about the UP body I want to hear someone like Bobby Walden give us a first hand, hands on evaluation.

Hope the steel they use in the 32 5W is better than the crap steel they used to make the replacement fender for my sons Honda Civic.

If that's true the body will be making it's debut at the LA Roadster show, that's next on their schedule. I'm looking forward to actually seeing the body in person or at least a real picture. I was talking to a buddy and he hadn't realized the picture in their brochure is a drawing/rendering not an actual body.

I'm not sure I see the point of your post because it doesn't matter what I --or you, or anybody else --thinks about the price. Ultimately the price, and the quantity sold at that price, will be set by market demand.

The Swedish ones cost $12.000. You have to build em yourself but thats a very good price.
