I don't know if this is of interest or use to anyone, but I have scanned the assembly/wiring diagrams that came with a '51 Ford turn signal assembly. I tried to put them on the technical archive forum, but I apparently don't have those privileges yet. If someone wants to move them for me, that's okay. Anyway, the drawings are here: <O</Ohttp://www.mcload.com/1951 Ford Turn Signal View A.jpg<O</O http://www.mcload.com/1951 Ford Turn Signal View B.jpg<O</O http://www.mcload.com/1951 Ford Turn Signal View C.jpg<O</O Hope someone can use them! By the way, when the picture opens, right click to either "save picture as" or "print". The first diagram is a "portrait" print, the other two are "landscape" prints.
Holy shit you rock. I love it when other people make things easier for me. Just about to start wiring mine up and everything else is a cinch, cept for that. Now, I'm covered.
Thanks. I'm planning on using a '51 column in my '29 roadster project, and I want the signals to work. Any ideas about how to make the horn work? The original horn wire ran down through the center of the steering shaft, but that won't work for me. I'd appreciate any help in that regard from anyone here on the hamb-- please pm me with your thoughts. Thanks. Jack Luther.
Wow Dude ya got ESP or sumthin. Just got turn a signal switch and was gonna look for instructions tonight,, Guess I'll just have to look for porn instead!! Thanks a bunch!
Jack: I had to go to a solid steering shaft with u-joints, so I can't use the center hole wire either. If I'm not mistaken, that wire is simply a ground, so that when the horn button is pushed, it connects the circuit making the horns blow. However, I don't yet know if Ford used a horn relay or not. So I was planning to just include a ground wire (from horn button) in the side bundle of wires that runs down from the turn signal switch (and is covered by a small piece of channel). This way it won't show, and can be connected to whatever wire is needed to make the horns work. Just make sure this wire makes good contact with the horn button somehow. I don't think the horn wiring is addressed in these schematics, but I could be wrong.
That should work great. Ford did have a horn relay here. Mine is still sitting on the firewall. The wire is providing a ground and any common 12V relay will work with it. Thanks again.
