Shoebox - 51 Grill or 50 Grill - Which do you like better

I have a 51 ford and a 49 ford parts car. I can't decide what grill I prefer. Please let me know which ones you prefer and why.

'49 and '50 because they're cooler than a '51.

 

***le says 50 or 51 but you mention a '49 parts car. 49 and 50 grilles are different. I'd take a '49 grille first, then a '51, then a '50, in that order. I love how the parking lights are worked into the grille bar on the '49 grille, but I like the smooth hood lip of the '51. '50 grilles are my least favorite, although they're not bad looking on their own right, just my least favorite of the three.

 

i vote for 50.

 

I dont personally like stock grilles.Floating kustom grille is more my thing than these...

 

The '49-'50 grille is the only way to go. Thats the whole reason why I wanted a Shoebox.

 

I like the 51, I like the syemtry of the two bullets(? For lack of a better word?)

 

I like them both but my fav is the 49-50. Mine is a '49 so I'm happy!!!

I like the 50

 

49 is best, IMHO. I'll take the 50 over the 51, but the 51 is better for customizing, ( flat hood center )
I own a 50 and I would love to put a 49 grill in it.

 

51 cause no one repops them...

I prefer the '50 cause they're RAD! How come you never see them used as a custom grill on another make?

 

49 prettiest of them all. Love the little spear lights.Cleanest design of the 3 in my opnion.

okay, '49 is the best looking to me

 

I like t he '51. Two bullets look just right. The '49-'50's look like a girl with one ****.

 

I'm with you on this. I have a '50 and was fortunate enough to have found a '49 grille for it. I like the simplicity of the '49 park lights best.

Voted for the '51, but it's mostly just the surround I prefer, I'd be inclined to alter whats inside of it. ...and I'd likely delete the chrome taillight pod on a '51, though I have seen one or two with them left on that looked OK.

On a '49-'50 I'd have to resist the urge to figure out how to build a joystick operated, back-lit & articulating eyeball, ...for following the hot babes across the cross-walk!

 

well if we're talking stock grilles i like the 51 better ,

i have a 50 but i put 51 upper bars and hood lock support and a stock 50 ford meteor grille in

the thing i dont like about the 49-50 grilles is the cyclops look the 51 grille doesnt make alot of since to me either though

I prefer the '49 and '50 over the '51. I revised my '51 Vic into a '50 phantom for just that reason:



I do like the '49 "arrowhead" parking lights, and considered doing a '49 clone, but in the end I decided that I like the way the the '50 parking lights transition down to the bumper. Notice that the '50 and '51 parking light surrounds are quite different; the '50 wraps farther around toward the wheel well, which I prefer. As somebody has already mentioned, there are differences between '49 and '50 besides the parking lights; the horizontal bars and center barrel are deeper on a '49 than a '50. Don't make the mistake of mixing them; it'll look funny.

I also think that the '49 and '50 grilles look better with the bumper guards left on; it kinda ties the bumper to the grille.

I voted for the 49/50 even though i prefer the turn signal "spears" on a 49 over a 50.
