    Pretty slick build- I just built a FED-inspired soap box kart for a race my college is having on Saturday.

    Hey, ratty;

    Could (would) you do a nice scan of that 1955 Soapbox rule book. I used to have one,a later version, now long gone.

    Would appreciate it.

  7. I dont understand how that brake works? Doesnt help that the pic is only an inch big. Do you have a photo of it mounted on the soapbox?

    I remember building a derby car with my dad for cub scouts when I was a kid. It was a lot of fun and I held onto that car for 20 years in my parents garden shed. Its gone now but I'd love to build another. HAMBox Derby anyone??????

    Heavy=Fast. Lead is faster than lard.

  15. This is true for a long course but on a short course you don't have the time to get momentum. I'd rather it light as possible as it's easy to add weight (lead brick) depending on the course rather then take it off.

  16. Got the brakes pretty much worked out!

    This one is a Soap Box Derby Kit car. It has a fiberglass body and the newer wheels.
