There's another sweet young thing to turn yer head just about every time ya turn around, both in the media & daily life, and I'm no less aware of that at 66 than I was at 16, ...though the flirtations just don't generate the opportunities they once did, ...Dangit! While new faces come & and others fade away, there are those from our youth that endure, ...and this enchanting creature has been firing my rockets ever since the first time I ever laid eyes on her!! Sad she's no longer with us!

Great story, FBI9c1. Pretty amazing, these primitive fish, THE BIGGEST
freshwater fish in North America. Yet, most of us will never, ever lay eyes
on one. Unlike Big Foot, these actually still exist! Silly rumors persist of
them "attacking" people, but no such report has been substantiated. The
culprits in those stories were probably actual alligators, not alligator gars.

A nod to bicycling as a viable and enjoyable means of transport, here's
a '20s shot of a separate, dedicated bikeway under construction in Copen-
hagen, thanks to an interesting site called Copenhagenize.com. Note the
wooden clogs a couple of the men are wearing!

 

A very rare promotional still from an obscure early production of "Mary Poppins' in which
the entire cast were on penny-farthings, what? Nice gimmick, but the venture failed, even
after producers took it "on the road." Psyche. In fact, it's just siblings Maggie and Bob
Spiers clowning for the camera around 1900 in West Wyalong, NSW, thanks to an inter-

Ahhh...Army "cattle car" trucks. They sure didn't change much.

 

I'm not sure what they look like these days. Last time I was at Ft Leonard Wood MO about 10 years ago, the cattle cars appeared to be more open than this one from the 40s. But I might be mistaken, I was working on some other stuff and didn't get too close to them.

I was at Ft Benning GA and Ft Lewis WA about 2 years ago, didn't see any of them at either place at that time.

Never saw anything near this size, but I can remember as a boy in the late 40s catching baby gars in the Ohio Rivr using gl*** jars on Belknap Beach near Louisville. Biggest ever saw caught was about two feet.
