Since all the cool Plymouth kids play here, I need some help. The tow company lost my hood on the freeway (not their problem, not responsible for lost/damaged items), I need a new hood. I also need some rear bumpoer brackets. My painter is trying to get the car finished up before my return to the states from Assghanistan next month. The car is in Cali, so a hood in Cali would be cool. Any help, point me in the right direction? I have scoured the net, but cant physically go to the yards while I am here. Would like to have her done to go to Santa Maria the weekend I get back.
    Thanks all...Mike

Thanks Frankie47... I have searched around on there before. I know Eric has more following on this post than they have entirely...LOL. And a lot of guys are ditching the stock bumper on here for cooler shit...

It certainly is. It's the only one I'd seen, while apparently there was another one. This orange one belongs to Jeff Johnson from Carlsbad, CA. He was a very nice guy who took a lot of time answering any question while I was in and under the car.:D

We had a great time for sure. Regarding the color.....it's black with a hint of dark blue in the sun. Considering I only saw it as a color chip, I want to see it on a larger area first. According to Charley, I can't go wrong with this color.

    My pleasure!

It seems a bit like that, doesn't it?

Thank you for the thread link. I've just mounted the dual pulleys today (pics soon) and it looks like I'll be able to mount the alternator low on the passenger side.

Just got back in the garage this afternoon!

A good excuse to travel to CA I think!

I went ahead this afternoon and took off the top pulley and mounted the new dual groove waterpump pulley and added one to the crank pulley. The crank pulley clears the rack and pinion by at least half an inch, so that's fine. Then I held the alternator in it's position and I think I can make it work. Going to "test" fabricate some (probably weird looking) brackets tomorrow.

Wow, isn't trying to work out an alternator bracket fun! After spending most of the morning trying to get the correct position for the alternator, I mounted it to the bottom of the bbc short waterpump. This will be the main pivot point. (held in place by a temporarily made piece of aluminium.) The alternator in this position will have an inch and a half of movement for tightening the belt before it either hits the rack and pinion or the waterpump hose. (I know a fairly sharp bend hose will be required). I then bent some sheet metal to get a general idea of the shape of the top bracket. I think I'll just order 2 plain top brackets and start welding the new creation. Any ideas and/or suggestions are always welcome!

Is it me or is he missing the thin trim ring that goes around the headlight to hold it in the bucket. It looks as there is a gap between the headlight and the bezel. That is one very smooth looking car. I hope mine comes out that way.

Correct, he's still missing the trim rings. Still an awesome car though!

I've been working on the alternator bracket and in which way I can fabricate one to suit my needs. I may have found the solution........more progress after Easter.

btw, I've got about 450 holiday pics from just last week.....

Have you measured to see what the length of the belt will be before making the bracket? I would see what they offer before you spend all that time making that thing

Hell, we can send him whatever size he needs, all we need is a measurement!

I going to fabricate a fixed alternator bracket mounted to the water pump. The adjustment of the belt will be achieved by using a belt tensioner. This way I can mount the alternator in it's relatively small but hidden position under the waterpump and still get the correct tension on the belt. The position of the tensioner is going to be determined by the length of the belt I can find. More next week. Happy Easter!:D:D:D

Check lawn mower places too for v-belts, not just automotive places. Many, many sizes available.

Curious how you're going to make the alternator bracket work.......hang on, I forgot, you can make anything work! Still one of the best threads here on the Hamb, keep up the awesomeness!

Eric don't know if it will help you but when i needed a belt tensioner for my Roadster i found a nice one on a Alfa Romeo 75, it only needed slight modification to work out nice.
