Semmes Motor Co. was formed in 1919 by brothers Raphael and Charles Semmes when the Congressional Garage Co., Semmes-Kneessi Co., and Semmes Motor Line merged. The new company primarily sold vehicles manufactured by Dodge, but also offered vehicles made by Hudson, Wilcox, and Vim. Its showroom was located at 1132 Connecticut Avenue, NW (demolished; current site of the 12-story office building 1130 Connecticut Avenue) and the garage was located at 613 G Street, NW (demolished; current site of the Verizon Center).

So if that's the only building, we know the answer now!

We're just hoping that he hasn't figured out a way to change the appearance of his vehicle at a moments notice so that he can pass by her house more often without having to borrow vehicles.

 

It was my privilege to work with several aussies in our squadron in VN. I'm curious about the relatively low amount of web and other load-bearing gear seen in these pics.

Idyllic cabinet-card photograph from over a century ago. Wow.
Looks as though these fine folk were out for a holiday excursion
to take in natural beauty. The spot was/is called Rock Gate,
near Utterwalder Grund in Saxon, Switzerland. Prolific FlickR
member JosefNovak33 posted this, along with the enlarged de-
tails below. Can someone who reads German translate? This
spot is apparently in a national park.

 

Then-and-Now! Drake Goodman, also of the FlickR community, demonstrates
that Rock Gate is still idyllic and fascinating today!
