help a broke college kid out please

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by lowgobuick56, Apr 12, 2012.

  1. i know everyone hates the "whats it worth" posts but lets face it there in no other place to turn with more experts and knowledge. that being said i have to get rid of my 1930-31 tudor model a sedan and 53 desoto hemi motor.
    now a little more detail.
this body has already been chopped ( not by me) and is really quite rough. other than that this body is in really great shape. no cancer at all. amazing sub frame, good dash, all there except doors.
with this car i have a 37 ford front end with wheels and leaf spring, drums, spindles, the whole shabang.
i also have one driver door and two crappy passenger doors ( enough to make a whole door).
also a perfect non-bent stock frame with only surface rust.
now for the other big part.
with this car goes my 1953 desoto hemi (267 fire dome) all in good shape just need some love and cleaned up.

obviously this is a hard one to price and id like to at least try to sell it as a package deal. so if anyone could help me it would mean a lot.
    thanks.

That depends on what you're willing to take and how fast you need money. Advertise 1000 and see where that takes you. You could get more by selling separately.

if you want to get the most for it all, list it as a package on that evil bay site, with no reserve. You'll get exactly what it's worth, which should be quite a bit more than $1,000, imo.

List what you paid for each piece, than add it up. Price it at that but add best offer.

$2000 - $2500 or take it all to "Antiques Roadshow" when they come to town.

I saw $2,000 in my head before I read these lo-ballers' estimates.

The local market dictates the price unless you can find a traveler at close to $4 a gallon for gas.

In our area, $2000 would be hard to get. Would move at $1000. So try for something in between.

I think you'd get more money breaking it up. $500 for the motor, more if it runs. I'd ask $1300 for the body, prepared to take less. Couple hundred on the other stuff.

Ask twice what you think it's worth and let them talk you down to 2/3's of that and think they scored!

Yes, $2500 OBO and ad cash is KING!

  20. Thanks for getting back. I think you already have a realistic, maybe just alittle optimistic, price in mind. Good luck ..... incidently that body would probly go quick for 1200-1500 at any CA swapmeet.

I'd love to have the body and frame if it wasn't so far away. The gas there and back for my truck would cost as almost as much as the body and frame .

Still if you decide to split it up I'd like to know what the asking price for the body and frame are. My dog is always up for a road trip.

So he could net maybe 200 to 500 after the 1000 spent on transportation.

Someone in an earlier post says it depends on local market.....considering where Grand Junction is located, transportation is going to be a factor for anyone in other parts of the country.

The only opinion that matters is that of the buyer(s) who has/have cash and want to buy any or all of it. Sounds harsh, but is just the reality of the market for this stuff or any other mechandise.

$1000-$1200 complete package, $1800-$2000 if you break it up (depends on how quick you need the cash)

You'd probably get more if you broke it up. $400 for engine, $250 for axle, $200 frame, $1200 body

    Im just jealous really.
Your best bet is to ask what you want... See if they come!
