I found this on CL nearby but have never seen one. Any ideas what year or what it was used for? Still runs. Is it of any value? Looks cool for maybe a shop truck or convert to a small camper.
That would make a awesome shop truck but the 4400 is most likely going to mean heavy duty ch***is under it. Almost has the feel of an old armored truck style body on it.
the fenders look like a 47-54 truck because of the headlights but the grill looks early like 39.....probably a heavy duty around 47 or 48. looks pretty cool to me
It's a K or KB series International with a delivery body...maybe an old Railway Express truck, or Post Office truck....... Ray
International all right but what is with the strange wheels and tires? Are they hard rubber or pumped up? Could it be an old armored car with bullet proof tires?
Hi , This is a International KB 1941 to 1949. KB Series The KB series added wings on the sides of the grill, a wrap-around chrome piece on the front hood, a hood ornament and chrome lettering indicating the model designation below the International nameplate on each side of the hood. He's got another truck listed with it that is a Chevy 4400. Here's the front view. Lots of good info on the HAMB. I'm going to try and look at it in person.

That is a pre '50 International KB series delivery van. They were rated at (Single rear wheels) 4,000 Gross cargo Load and with duals the GCL was 5,200 Lbs. All had IH OHV inline sixes. They were strong. Western Parcel Delivery in Southern California operated a bunch of these. We had some KB-70's for fire engine work. Those were tough trucks! Normbc9
I talked with the owner this morning and he does have a Chevy 4400 and this International for sale. He says it was a Fargo truck so i ***ume he means Like Wells-Fargo. It was an early style of armored truck. It is a 48 KB5 and it's all there. He says it only has one bad place in the top. $1800.
The wheels are standard items on International medium duty trucks of that era. Cast instead of stamped, very similar in that respect to Diamond T. I seriously doubt the "armored car/truck" history......it just looks kinda "blocky", but by well before the time this truck was built, armored trucks were well established and had much more secure doors, thicker gl***, gun ports, etc. Ray

Rusty---I am sure the wheels are called Dayton wheels. Most of the Internationals before the 50s used these wheels. They used regular tires. A few used the Budd, disk wheels. Several other older trucks used the same type wheels--White, Diamond "T" , Reo and others. Still see a few now and then. Their main problem was getting the rim on the wheel even, so as not to wobble, but they would carry more weight than the disk wheel, with out breaking. Older semi trailers used this wheel. I still have 3 or 4 trailers with those wheels. Hope this helps.
