I painted my 352 FE with KBS Coatings Motor Coater. Oldsmobile Gold. It held up well during the dyno run. By the way, Nice Intro Sentium....
It is a Dupont Imron Fleet Color. He just looked at their color book and decided one was too light and the next was too dark, so this is the one he ended up with. Imron sure is durable, we cleaned up the engine when it was black one time with lacquer thinner and it still shined like the day we shot it. Don
My FE (the one with the Edelbrock VC and Offenhauser Breathers) is shot with VHT primer and several layers of VHT Gold. The exhaust ports didn't hold during the break-in.... The rest still looks really nice
Yep, the exhaust ports on some brands of engines get hot enough to burn the paint off or change it's color in that area. Same thing is happening to my Son's gold 455 Olds motor, but it is sort of a badge of honor......shows you use the car. Don
Well I get down to business with my questions lol Nice engines guys. You all inspired me! Im painting my engine gold also because of this thread
I've been thinking about painting my engine gold lately, and this post has only fueled the fire. These are from another post here on the HAMB, but I had to add them to this thread as well, because I think this engine has it going on! Love all that chrome and polish, together with the gold... I need to do this!
RustNeverSleeps: I agree with you. that SBC painted gold would be nice EyeCandy for my 34 Ford 5w Coupe. I am also following that Chevy Parkwood long roof thread. Mr.1961 has a nice ride and engine!
Martin.... What you are looking at is an extremely rare Edelbrock Experimental manifold, Ive never seen another one like it.... The valley cover is one that I make..... Tony
That explaines a lot Tony. I've only seen the 3 bolt Edelbrocks... Your Valley cover looks nice. On the one I got, I think the fins are too thick. I also like the Eelco one. This thread just helped me decide that my engine will be golden too
well i just finished rebuilding the small block 260 for my fairlane....its a '63 so i went with the color gold since that was the color it rolled outta of the factory with......
Finally getting my Shoebox project rolling. Water pumps on, timing cover on, flipped it over... whoops, where's my oil pump? Ordered and will be delivered tomorrow morning. Pan, starter, and trans mounted tomorrow, then in the car she goes! Sent from my DROID device using the TJJ mobile app
Love them all. ### Kustom Falcon Build Thread: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=734282
My engine is painted black but all the bolt-ons are gold. I think it works well with the almond color on the truck.
