Love the look of your Rivi! Just wondering what size your wheels were? Did you use a spacer? I have a set of rallys that won't fit over my front drum.
Painter D... if you are willing to help Im willing to be helped!!! I was thinking about swapping my front end.. but after reading on here about a 54 that the stock was bagged.. rebuild the original front end and steering box....might be the way to go for my buget. John
Glad to see you used the Buick wheels instead of putting some cheesy looking oversized billets on it. Great looking ride! V/8
Do you have any pics of your rear bag set up. I know its pretty straight forward, but i just wanted to take a look.
UUGGGHHH if that's what you want to call it. You are referring to the shocks on the front end, right? I call the bar you're talking about the "strut rod" , I'm probably wrong though, but yes I mounted them to that bar.
I know it's been a while but some of you wanted to see the rear bag setup so here's a few pics. I've also recently had a Vintage air Gen IV unit installed along with a custom aluminum radiator and fan shroud. Numerous other parts under the hood have also had a fresh coat of paint applied as well as a new finned pushrod cover. Here's some pics.
Such a slick set up you got there! As soon as my 64's outta paint i'm attacking the suspension. Any update on the front shock performance with it mounted on the brake reaction rod? I'm assuming you've put some miles on it since. Also do tell on the alum. radiater conversion. Debating on re-coreing my og unit or converting to alum. Running an e-fan?
btw on rear bags I install bag directly to the trailing arm. Should I have placed a small bucket like yours?
The front shocks work perfectly fine being mounted to the "strut rod /brake reaction rod" and yes I've put many miles on the setup about 6000 or so. The car rides beautiful. I did the alum. radiator because it can get extremely hot here in TX. By the time I had the Vintage air installed and no fan shroud whatsoever I probably would have started running into some overheating issues. So IMO the upgraded radiator along with a new custom made fan shroud was an absolute must. I DON'T TOLERATE OVERHEATING. You should be fine ,I just put the small cup on bottom to give me a little more clearance for the E-brake cable.
Actually, now that you mention it , no. They were on there when I bought the car so I always just left them in place.
Glad to see the updates on your car. I love the shots that you linked. Looks nice. I will probably do the same air-con setup. Any issues with the conversion? Looks good under-hood. Was your car an A/C car and did you hook up to the existing ventilation setup? (that's what I hope to do). Sweet ride. Mike
No issues at all. Yes my car was an AC car and yes it's hooked up to the existing ventilation. It"s even hooked up to the existing controls.
