I will let the painter paint the firewall the same color,as the rest of the exterior, Nissan Merlot Metallic.

Great work Rockable. You guys with 40-41 Plymouths are becoming quite a large club here on the Hamb, which is great to see. One of the best looking cars ever made imho.

Thanks, guys. This is not my first restoration but it is my first hot rod build. I am really enjoying it and trying to do a good job. Thanks to all you Hamb'ers for the advise and encouragement!

Love the shroud and lip seal.

I just ***umed that there just was not enough room for the fan there and had planned on using a pusher up front. I really don’t like the idea of it up front it just does not look good through the grill...

What do you have planned for the clutch and break peddle seals to the floor boards? I have been looking for something like a miniature shifter rubber boot or bellows type design.

I am going to try some pedal seals I got from Andy Bernbaum, most likely. Mi am also going to check the Steele Rubber catalog for a better solution.

Elephant is an acquired taste, as you eat more of it, the better it gets. The problem is, once a project is done, a guy just can't seem to resist the taste of elephant, and goes and gets another project. :D

Keep plugging away Rock, the Plymouth is looking good. Gene

Well said, Gene. This is a hot rod Universal Truth, methinks. The journey is what it's all about. You get there and you say . . . hmmm, think I'll turn around and head back.:D

I made up some pieces from 20 ga. sheet metal and cut a 1 1/4" hole in them. Then I drilled holes so that I could use as many existing holes/nuts as I had. Had to weld 3 additional nuts to the bottom of the floor. The stock seals will be glued to these pieces.

I think they turned out pretty well.

I also made a cover to hide the hose connections to the AC on the inside of the car. I didn't want to be looking at 4 ugly hoses poking through the kick panel. I will have this upholstered when I get to that stage.

    Thanks, n847!

Guys, I will be working on the Chevy for a couple weeks so that I can drive it to GG Nashville. Then, I should get back on the Mayflyer.

No. Unfortunately, I got sidetracked with a 54 Chevy that was supposed to be "good to go". It was not and I spent 6 months sorting it out. Then, my 86 Silverdao's engine took a dump and I have been finishing that up.

I hope to crank back up on this one later in this month.

I'm baaaaaack! After a pretty long hiatus, I got back to work on the Mayflyer this week. The more I looked at that stock firewall, the more I hated it. So, I cut it out and put my new bead roller to use to fabricate a new one. I think it looks way better than the original plus it gives me a little extra room around the engine.

What do you think? Sorry, but I didn't have time to brush all the welds but you can tell what it looks like.

    Happy New Year everyone!

Looks great! I always like the contours of a stock firewall, but this is great work! Do you're valve covers clear the firewall without dimpels?

Glad to see you back at it keep us posted!
