just thought i would ask if anyone is going to the moab car show in utah this weekend. its always a good time. ill be leaving tomorrow for it
I am headed to Moab tomorrow but I am not taking a car to the show. We're just spending one light there and then headed back home. Let me know what will you be driving and I'll stop by and say "Hi" if I see you. Kenny
hey firstyearta ill be driving a 56 buick wagon that is raw metal. shouldnt be able to miss me. feel free to come say hi. it will be nice to meet a fellow hamber.
Man Oh Man I wish I could go with you...I love the Southwest. Moab is amazing and Grand Junction is great too.... Please take lots of pix to, at and from the show!
Shucks, didn't see your car, Buick. Wish I had. Wife and I went out there for other reasons and we left early Saturday morning. I saw a bunch Friday and some heading that way on I-70, but not the whole show. Some favorites were a nice '52 (IIRC?) Chevy truck, the giant yellow one. Two '53 or so Caddy customs, lavender and flamed green. Plenty of nice 50s-60s pickups. Pretty red '32 hiboy. Flat black '57 or so Ford Ranchero that towed a small trailer there. Of course there were plenty of late Corvettes and Mustangs, hoo boy. And more than a few horrible rat rod pickups. If I go through pictures this weekend I'll throw some up.
That 'lavendar Caddy and the green one" was me and my brother's...you can see the complete build on the lavendar one here: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=329070&highlight=the+best+55+caddy+build I didn't see the Buick wagon...LowgoBuick56 must be one of those guys that come to town and hang out downtown and not enter the show...oh BTW, did you know that the entry fee to the show goes to several kids each year to pay for scholarships...and over the twenty years they've been putting on this show, 65 scholarships have been given away... All in all it was a great weekend...about 500 entries...and the first time in the 17 years that I've been going did I see "Vacancy" signs on the motels for the weekend...guess room rates are a bit too expensive anymore, couple that with $4.19 gallon gas and people will stay home more. Great, thanks for the link! I was the one who asked either you or your brother, "are these both yours?" while taking some pictures of them. Gorgeous cars. I was happy to be able to point them out to my wife while walking to breakfast on Saturday morning, as you guys were driving to the park. The owner of The Adventure Inn Moab said the same thing, she's seen attendance dropping off the past 2-3 years or so.
I just got back from St.George,UT and after the menagerie of crawlers,Jeeps and RVs headed No. on 15. I don't think fuel costs have anything to do with recreation. Here it is only Wed. and already people are on the move , not that they are all heading to Moab but at least Utah somewhere !!
