Who makes a good single stage paint and where can you buy it ? We can no longer get paints like Dupont Chroma one up here in Canada. I want to get a good match to Washington Blue. Thanks.
I've used Nason Ful-Thane 2.8 Low VOC urethane. It's not bad stuff and not too expensive either. It's a Dupont product so if you know who sells Dupont paints in your area thay should have it.
Utech 3.5 A line within the Akzo Nobel family. Really nice single stage. I edited because I had put Lesonal. The only products available in Canada in Sikkens and Lesonal are 2 stage waterborne
I used Lesonal on this truck,,that stuff is really durable covers well and sprays real nice,never put any clear on this unit,,got the paint cheap as it was a mismatch. Shot the whole truck and inside of box with 1/2 gallon
Sherwin Williams is worth a look. I needed a quart of a single-stage acrylic lacquer for a small project a few years back and they ordered it for me, the $$ was good as well. Bob
Theirs a goodly number of brands I've had good luck with kicker covers well also nason I need to put on an extra coat of it. But that just maybe the way I spray it. I get the kicker on line which for me is great because I live out in the sticks. But for color matching go into town. Just google kriker or paints and began looking.Thats how I came across it. It's made in new york.

I used PPGs Commercial Performance Coatings on my frame , engine and wheels. It's a lot less expensive than PPGs name brand stuff. AUE-100 is a single stage acrylic urethane and AUE-300 is a single stage polyurethane. AUE-300 glosses up much better without buffing for such things like frames. AUE-100 will gloss up well when cut and buffed.
I was going to say DuPont but I guess that ship has sailed. How far from the border are ya? Maybe someone would be willing to pick up a gallon or so for ya and just meet you half way.
I painted my roadster with Crossfire. Two stage base/clear. Looks really good. Painted it 1 year ago. I was gonna use single stage and the guy who painted it talked me into 2 stage, I'm glad I listened to him, also alot of HAMBERS told me to use 2 stage (thanks everyone).
I've used PPG Concept for years with excellent results. You might also consider PPG Direct Gloss. Similar to Concept, but seemed even easier to spray. This stuff covers and lays down like you won't believe. See if it's available locally.
No solvent based paints that do not meet the VOC laws in Canada (think like California) are available from retailers in Canada it is not just the one brand he was originally looking for that he can't find.
I use Endura, it is made right there in Alberta, very tough paint. I think they may be getting around the VOC thing as they are labelled as an industrial not automotive finish?.? You can check out my photo album in my profile, I painted my truck with it and they matched the original Wimbledon White and Carribean Turquoise.
Looks like we need to pull a reverse Joe Kennedy and start boating good paint up North for you poor folks!
Here in Ontario when I want a good, but cheap paint, I use U-Tech. it is a product from AkzoNobel, shouldn't be hard to find. I just did my 40 ford with it and it turned out great. Good luck.

That's what I used on the fenders on my Teardrop I had 1930 Washington Blue mixed up for my Model A, but the fenders got done before the Model A
Looks nice, any paint code that goes with that paint ? I can get Nason up here at Napa, although maybe I should pick up something else this summer in Texas ?? I want to have Tim McMaster spray my new Y Block for me, that's why I'm trying to line up the paint now, as well as using it on my ch***is and body for the RPU.
