and turn off the volume. On a side note, the look of the cars around here hasn't changed much since. Hijackers, chromed diff covers and yellow rear ends are still en vogue.

In the mid 70s I switched from the car scene to motorcycles, after looking at these jacked up in the rear s##tboxes I see why! A sad time in the automotive scene!

 

Hey Lowtech, can you post some recent pictures of these type cars in your area?
Almost without exception, I dug most every car pictured.
This build style has all but disappeared from our landscape.
The over-restoration craze here has obliterated the personality, and character from the
cars I grew up with.
The days of the individual seem to be no longer celebrated in America for the most part.

As for the question of what is allowed and what is not. This thread is a "carry over" from what us guys in the 60's were doing in the 70's. We were all trying to be cool it just after the 60's and all the stuff that happened during that time I think we all got a little "confused!"

Now thanks to the Hamb we are all back on track, much older but still Cooooooollllllllllllllllllllllll!

Really not an explanation but being cool is ALL that counts!

To me the 70's were the greatest of times. I raced World Class Hydroplanes, and Super Modified race cars. At the same time I had a small company building motorcycle sidecars, building 450 units. I then designed a 55 T Bird and built a company up to 25 employes producing two cars a week. In the end I sold out to a big corporation and ran with the money. To me the 70's were the greatest, things I learned in those ten years I carried with me my entire life. I was lucky in buisness, and made two fortunes and in the end held on to one.
Between the WOMAN, Racing, Gambling (Craps tournaments), and Businesses it was one grand time. I would wish that everyone could have lived such an adventure.

 

Thanks for that Hotroddon. The center fuel filler, luggage rack and six-sided badge sorta threw me. Oddly enough I have a pal that probably bolted in that engine if its a 62-65 car.

 

Wow I forgot all about my days following the thunderboats .... and not a single pic expect whats been buried in my head.

 

I must admit.. looking at the pictures I may just take my Fairlane in a different direction. I have a proper "traditional" '49 Plymouth already..... maybe the '65 'lane needs hijackers and cragars.. if I can find them...

Someone found that challenger, minus the blown Hemi and is restoring it to this version!

 

Little People Customs, Ventura, California shop, just had a new project roll into their shop. This ’71 Challenger has spent the past fifteen years in storage and is currently without the blown hemi that last powered it. Fortunately, it does still have its full-spectrum fade paintjob and the hood that was cut to allow the blower to see the light of day. The current owner would like to return to car to its ‘70s glory and keep the vintage paint.
