  5. Holy crap, thats what I am talking about. Can you please post more shots.........and by more I mean TONS :)

  6. This is a great thread with lots of motivation. I am building a chassis with a stock '32 frame, stock model A cross members, dropped original '32 front axle, '40 rear end, and all parts riveted on. I'm violating it a little though with a 331 Cadillac engine, but I still hope for a '49 or '50 look.

  7. YES!! More please!

And again, I love this thread and hope it never goes away.

Interesting to see here that some have chosen to flip the A rear cross member (I assume to compensate for the angle of the 32 frame), and others have not. Seems like it would introduce a slight angle to the rear transverse spring if left in the stock orientation. Must not matter that much.

    Anyway, More please!

I agree with you. It's starting to remind me of the Jag,with the holster. I think the directions are pretty simple, just for this one particular thread. The ones that got it right are super bitchin'! Very cool. It inspires me.

what i was talking about on "indy cars having disc brakes" ties in with this chassis under this roadster. with the exception of the trans, master cylinders, and steering box, everything, technology wise, could have been on a '58 and later hot rod if someone during that time had access to some race car parts.

on this chassis, the front and rear brakes, front and rear hubs, the rear end, and all four wheels came off of a '58 indy champ car chassis. during that time chassis builders were using tube chassis for strength and lightness, so round tube cross-members could have been used if someone wanted to.

the late Doane Spencer, used many race car inspired ideas on his roadster, and i have never heard anyone not call that roadster traditional.

at the end of the day, what i want to convey is that a traditional built chassis doesn't have to fit into a small mold.

Listing very hard to port now,... man the lifeboats, Harms Way.

I'm dead serious about seeing stick welded cars, maybe it will jog some peoples memories.

This was all stick welded...E7014 with a Lincoln buzzbox...but I won't claim that it is period perfect...

Neal, Thanks for those pics of the 4dr. I can't help it, I enjoy looking at the different ways some guys did the same job. Like those split bone mounts...and the little angled gusset added to the welded shock mount on the I beam.

I find it interesting, that's all. Makes me think of the old days. I'd go back, but there would be no hamb.

I should put up a pic of the original odd bone mounts on an old east coast full fender 32 frame I am using. Strong and gets more tire-to-bone room on turns. Stick welded, too.

Traditional Front End & Rear is all RodTech Australia....but If I have offended you or broken the rules, then I will delete my post, but as I spotted another on here with Disc brakes I thought it would be OK.

Not sure if this "peroid" or perfect, but here is what I have been working on, only the engine and the body and that crappy steering wheel aren't 32...

My Model A chassis. About as traditional as you can get other than the master cylinder, T5 and Lokar E-brake.

Anybody have close up photos of gusset plates, mounts, crossmembers, and frame notches/z-ing from cars of the past?

I think it would be neat to see how the stuff was put together in the original hot rods.

This is Nothing special just another 33-34 frame out of the jig with some traditional suspension. Nice thread, I love chassis.

I apologise now that it is not a fifties survivor!

I have a bare chassis shot somewhere, but I can't find it!

The chassis is not fully boxed, only at the front and at the rear at the kickup.
