Novadose ? If I am thinking of the same car it was White had a healthy B/B. The kid that owned it hung around Pine Banks in Melrose. This was mid to late 70`s .

  7. late 70s....I was 5-7 years old haha

  8. Probably. They had their own bounces. I remember a battle of the bands their when they finished everyone sat down and would not go home. Then all os a sudden there was this horrendous smell . They place cleared out fast then. Stink bomb. LOLO
Was a great place to meet the ladies.
I had a 56 pontiac and they had just opened the route 3 to marshfield and I opened her up on that road. Hit 115 before the rear end started to burn oil and I slowed down. Great times.

Anybody remember a 2 tone Austin s/b running around malden? How about a model a Vicky with a B/B from west medford?
This thread is Bringing up some memories. Worked at welding shop part time in High School in Medford. Lots of neat old cars floating in and out.

  12. The Vicky belonged to a guy named Vinnie(can't remember his last name).Dave Yetman owned an Austin A40 with an Olds in it but that was around 1960.Mike Catino had a purple Model A coupe with a banger in it around the mid 70's. My ex-brother-in-law had a chopped and channeled Model A coupe with a 347 Pontiac motor. Mike Ballistero had his green flake 34 Ford coupe with a 427 Chevy in it in the late 60's.

I Remember that 34 ford ford of mike Ballistero being parked at Davidson Chevrolet. I was just a kid riding around on a stingray at that time.
The Vicky I am thinking of was owned by a guy Named Ed. He bought it less engine and transmission in the Mid 70`s. . It was changed form Brown to Orange/Red. And a 427 Installed.
Always wondered where that car went.

The Austin and the Vicky sure do sound familiar! This is takin me back OMG Daivdson Chevrolet! haha........... I remember when I was too young to stay out ALL NIGHT lol according to me parents anyway... hearing the hotrods and street machines with headers wide open winding up and launching in the middle of the night from the Parkway or Broadway in Everett. All you hear now is these stupid lil Jap tuners!!

  15. I love American cars and do not want to get off topic, in the barn now is a 69 Corvette almost ready for the road, my 67 Camaro 13 to 1 Brodix head 302 / Zf 6 Speed and my fathers 13 to 1 460 inch glass nose 2.30 intake valve headed Gasser/ Street Machine style 68 Camaro...that being said, I also do not care for the basic bolt on johnny jap tuners or a kid that put exhaust in his Mustant...they all are fakers, they suck for sure, but there are some kids in their backyards building some sick cars with technology...my friend built a 740 Turbo Volvo Wagon, giant t6 turbo, imported connecting rods from Sweden, I ported the head, boxed the intake, was a 12 second car on the street, in race trim high 11 second car sold on ebay now to a kid in California..

Thats cool, the only name I know is "Spider" an older gentleman that owned alignment specialties at brookline Jp line at the beginning of rt9. Those garages are still there, I just moved out of them to the adjacent building. They wont be there for long though, the owner is going to tear them down and build a large commercial building. I did build my v8 falcon out of there and Ill be the last one who spun a wrench there, lol.

  17. Speaking of non-USA made cars in the 1960's:My introduction to an Austin Mini-Cooper S was about 1963.A good friend of mine named Hank Pacitto who now runs a foreign car repair shop in Rhode Island saw me down at the Big Burger in Everett one night and invited to go for a ride in one owned by his buddy John Halverson.John was a salesman at Parisian Motors in Cambridge and was about 3 1/2 feet tall.I later worked with John at a couple of dealerships and he was one of the best car salesman I've ever met.One of his very good friends and customers was Paul Silas who played for the Boston Celtics at the time.Paul;who was about 6 foot ten and John were quite a sight walking together.
Anyway we take off from the Burger and head toward Wellington Circle in the Mini.John is driving and Hank is riding shotgun and I'm sitting in the back seat which had an amazing amount of room for a car less than ten feet long.As we approach the exit that goes to Everett Station John turns and says,"Why don't you sit in the middle of the seat and hold on?" and throws the Mini into the exit which is sort of a decreasing radius turn at about 55 mph.About halfway through the car starts to lose traction on the front wheels and go straight.John quickly lets off the throttle which locks up the front wheels and throws the rear of the car sideways. He just as quickly gets back on the throttle and the car pulls right around the turn and on to the straightaway.Impressive to say the least.
Many years later I acquired a highly modified Mini wagon and quite by accident re-learned that technique(originally started by Paddy Hopkirk;a world famous rally driver)while trying to out-corner a 320i BMW going onto Route 93.

Man that picture brings back memories to me but not of that car. Coming back from one of the best scores I ever made ,I blew the tranny in my 52 Dodge on the upper N bound level of that bridge in the early 60's with a '32 roadster and a stack of other 32 stuff on an open trailer behind. Had to roll back down most of the way to a wide spot to get clear of the traffic lanes. Left the dodge there but got that trailer out of there real quick.

  20. Yeah, my dad had never lost in that car...other cars he did, but not this one, this was the fastest car in his region....Bill Prendable's Corvette may have taken it, but that was a full on race car, the 55 was in the high 11's deep 12s, pretty damn fast in those days.

If we didnt have people hot rodding foriegn built cars way back when we would not have the Cobra...and cars it inspired.

    Hey guys,

I bought a DVD titled Crusin 1961. It's the entire Arnie Ginsburg "Night Train " show from a Friday night back then. Besides the songs. it had the Adventure Car Hop ads, Pontiac dealer, etc. It's awesome! Available at Amazon.com or any music store can get it.

Not sure If that is it or not. I do recognize Buddy George`s car.
The owner of the welding shop I had mentioned working at earlier had 1000`s of pictures of cars. The name of the place was the metal shop.

[IMG] Could this be the car you are thinking of ? It belonged to Ed Annissi of Malden, MA. This is just one of the many cars from Edmund St garages.
