  1. Second that on the manual.
Sure does make life easier and saves
a bundle of time and money too.

it's not just the manual either...the certifiers do an awesome (often thankless) job too.

Either we got our sh!t together ourselves or the powers that be, would have outlawed it all together!

    Knighthoods for all of them!

Nothing worse than being almost ready for the road, only to find you did something fundamentally wrong at the start of the project!!

Definately! They are only trying to make it safe and fun for generations to come!

I feel like a 5 year old on Christmas eve, knowing that I will be picking up my chassis on the way home from work in 2 hours time!!!! Roll on the bus!!!!!

  5. I'll second that, for the amount of work that goes into the cert process they are bloody cheap to, at least down this end of the country.

Wade ,i been lookin at your torsion bar set up on your front end.. when you move your rear adjuster, does it actually twist the torsion bar much or just move it up n down in relation to the chassis?
Correct me if I'm wrong but to pre-load the bar you need to twist it?

When I assemble it, I set the adjuster screw to minimum and raise the chassis high to preload it when the weight goes back on. It is all a bit of a guess really, but it is not a major to lift up and disconnect and increase the preload if required. I am looking forward to using one of the local oval tracks and preload the right side all the way and unload the left for cornering on the clay!!!!

It'll work as it is , but I don't know that you'll get the adjustment your looking for...bit late in the piece I know!

I think all you'll get is a bit of twist laterally in the front mount...

With the low weight and COG it'll be pretty stable i reckon

What tyres are you thinkin of running?

The engine is very light, being all Alloy and the weight bias is 50/50 so I hope it will all work!
Tyres are on there already.....brand spanking pie crust Firestones!

I ordered the bulk of the stainless fastenings for the car today. They will be 2-3 weeks away because they are coming in from offshore somewhere! I will be able to continue with the ones I have here and then replace them when they arrive.

Nice to know you are out there!

I wrapped some of the frame today with some bubble-wrap type protection, so the bits that will spend their days uncovered don't get too beaten up during reassembly. When I get home, after work tonight, and have had a sleep I might have to do some "to do" jobs for Her indoors! I have another night at work this week too!
Friday I will be picking up some finish painted panels, so I can make a start! WOOHOOO!

P1030545.JPG P1030546.JPG P1030547.JPG This afternoon we went to the painter to discuss what colors go onto which panels, as in interior panels or exterior and some have two different colors on either side. Tomorrow he will be doing some interior color and some exterior on the weekend.

    Cheers mate!

Last night I watched Hurt Locker again while I chased all the threads on the chassis and cleaned the paint off some machined sufaces that the ball joints fit into. Waiting for painted panels!

  29. Great Build! You have not talked about the body. Did you make it wider and longer than a 27? There's nothing like a Modified!!!

The body started its life as a fibreglass roadster molding. Lucky for me someone wanted just a turtle deck, and I wanted one without the deck! When I got it, it had been cut in half through the cowl vent. this didn't faze me as I knew I wanted to widen it 100mm. Without widening I couldn't fit my size 12 boots in there! So the body fits over the chassis and fastens to the fire wall and along the inner floor panels. The rear section of the body is steel that I made and swaged to suit. The corners of the back of the glass section started as bits that I took from a 1923 bucket mold. I wanted a functional cowl vent to use as access to the master cylinder reservoir and the kill switch. I made the cowl vent panel from fibre glass and hinges from steel with an over centre spring to hold it open.
    Thanks for asking.

    61 days to go!
