Hi guys, first post here and I have a stir it up question. Rods & relics mentioned a few posts ago the "crappy****mins and a better big block". I have a 46 GMC coe that will become a fifth wheel hauler. I am making engine decisions and had redirected my thoughts on engine choice from a big block to a****mins. Same torque twice the fuel economy. Besides the stinking exhaust and the brain rattling noise, why not a****mins?

Well Rod & Relic is simply an old relic, do not mind him as he was having a dig at me and although Diesels do not always fit into posts on a traditional forum like the HAMB he takes every opportunity to rubbish me :D as I have a****mins in my 48 F4. A few here do have****mins Diesels and just as you say more torque and better fuel economy. A 4BT or 6BT set up with the correct gearing will make a great engine in a COE and who said they have stinking exhausts ? I added LPG (propane) to mine and rarely see the black smoke and that rattle noise is no different to a blown and geared Cleveland just a different noise we grow to love.

If you want ideas for your COE project and want to look at the HAMB may I suggest this topic may inspire you >

    and even this one>

So why not a****mins ? And if you build it post more about it here.
Not every one will agree it is traditional or HAMB friendly but it is what you want to do with your COE. ;):)

HOTFR8, Thank you for taking the time to share the information with us. I'm not good with computers, but will try to post a couple photos as we get started cutting the truck in half, accross through the middle of the cab and doors.

What radiator did you use in your Ford with the****mins? Did you do any "how to" posts with your project, maybe on another board? Thanks, Larry

I should point out my truck is not a COE. Radiator I had made for me and it was built to look like the original Ford Radiator but to Industrial Specifications and had different fittings to suit the application.

I posted most of the build on the Garage Journal.

Sorry but you will not see all the photos now due to a photo host failure.

I like the rear wheel covers as the vehicle looks so Art Deco in style.

Its no wonder there is no jobs anymore. Those days 4 cars was a load. Now they haul 10 to 12 cars, thats 1 guy doing the work of 3 today. But with that being said I still love big trucks.

I'm just finishing my cab streach. I took 2 extra cabs cut mid door spread & welded them together facing each other. Used lower half of front door frame with hinges atached. Shortened doors to fit openings & swapped upper front frame for upper rear from other doors. Then cut rear of cabs to match & welded together.

Looks like it is based on a British Leyland by the badge, although it has DAF on the back and with the other parts grafted in.

It was designed by Wellington Everett Miller. Have some pictures of the model below. It was for show/promotional uses only and never delivered gas/oil... at least, that's according to what I've read about it.
