    It looks like some form of lense holder one would use in a chemistry or physics lab. The chain pull to adjust height notice the spring tensioner, and the notches in the c-arms where a wire could lock in the lense or object.
    the one thing that throws me off is the cam lock on the bottom of the shaft collar.

    My dad's a TV repairman, so I've seen lots of tools. That's a taint micrometer.

  27. It's actually an old "hand made" music player. The chain raises the housing which contains a drum and tine type roller similar to the wind up ones in snow globes and jewelry boxes. As far as the cam lock...its what ever was laying around the makers shop if you will. The 2 bowed arches actually held a series of bells that accompanied the music.
