Right? I have no idea what it is and would like to apologize in advance for the OTness of it all. So uh, what is it?
It looks like some form of lense holder one would use in a chemistry or physics lab. The chain pull to adjust height notice the spring tensioner, and the notches in the c-arms where a wire could lock in the lense or object. the one thing that throws me off is the cam lock on the bottom of the shaft collar.
It's an adjustable Banana hanger, designed to keep your banana's at the optimum height as they are consumed to keep them from turning brown before their time.
It's actually an old "hand made" music player. The chain raises the housing which contains a drum and tine type roller similar to the wind up ones in snow globes and jewelry boxes. As far as the cam lock...its what ever was laying around the makers shop if you will. The 2 bowed arches actually held a series of bells that accompanied the music.
