Great score on that Hemi! Sometimes lucky is better than smart, haha.
Don't chuck your old Poly away, though. That is a steel crank, like all old Mopar V8's had, and it will regrind with no problems.
The car looks real nice, not many of them left. Poly's are cool, but nothing is as cool as a Hemi!!

  3. Nice story! When I was a kid there was a doctor in town that had a '56 New Yorker 2 dr ht & to this day one of the most gorgeous cars of all time. It was solid black, chrome out the gazoo, wire wheels & a record player under the dash. And my Dad had a '55 New Yorker St. Regis. I couldn't tear it up. Good luck..

It's not a great video, but I got it running today! I just have to finish it up (radiator and such), and it'll be back on the road in no time.

Did you pull the rocker arm shafts on this one and clean them out? I would before you started driving to much. They get sludged up pretty bad over time.

Well thhhpt! While getting it running properly today, I heard a funny screeching sound and shut it down immediately.
I hopped out of the car, and everything looked okay, then a river of transmission fluid ran out from under my car.

The seal behind the torque converter went out. Man, if it's not one thing, it's another!

Mine is a Push button 727.

It runs great now! It moves not so great now.....

My back is in a perpetual state of pain, but it's tolerable now.

Nope. I could easily be wrong. The previous owner said it was a Torqueflight 727.

It's the original transmission to the car though. Perhaps further investigation is needed! [IMG]

Powerflight, the seal in the linky is what you need.

I forgot to post this image of the car right after I got it running and before the seal popped. I had driven it out of the garage for the first time in a year.

The engine has been removed from the car, again. It only took a few hours for me to disconnect everything, take all the bolts out, and pull it.
I've done it so many times on this car now, I make short work of it.

Now, I'm taking a break and researching how to replace the front pump seal. The one I ordered showed up a few days ago, but I've never done this before so I'm taking it slow.

I've got bad luck as it is, I don't want to push it! [IMG]

I am taking this opportunity to take care of a few minor things I missed the first time while the engine is out though. I'm going to go ahead and redo the power steering since it leaks, clean some more of the gunk out of the engine bay, and take care of some wiring issues.

While removing the front pump seal, I noticed the front pump drive sleeve was loose.
I pulled it out without any trouble and the bushing came with it. Am I going to have to pull the entire pump to get that thing back in there?
