Barack Obama - so he could educate me on the future of hybrids, green technology, and how he's saving Mother Earth through fuel pricing.

Then I would masturbate with a bandsaw and put a bullet in my brain

  3. Surfacedoctor,
Trust me you really don't want to drink beer with me, my own brother refused to drink beer with me. Maybe whiskey would be your best bet. Pretty mellow when I drink hard liquer. ;)

Actually I wish my little brother was still here to have a drink with. Even as old as I feel today if I could get him drunk enough to fight just one more time it would be great. Well let me rephrase that if I could just drink a few beers with him and get him into just one last fight that would be great. I really miss him.

NO politics here, buddy,,you need to read the rules, FNG.
You're attempt at humor falls way short.
Knock it off and start to show some respect for the rules and the people who founded this site.
    Or, go away.
    Your choice...understand?

Noted - saw a few 'political' references (even by high ranking grenade inspectors) throughout the thread and thought maybe some rules were more lax than others..

To be clear, I have read the rules.

As I stated in my previous post, I saw more than one "political" reference in this thread, and not by "FNG's", so I thought that perhaps some references were tolerated - a mistake now readily apparent.

I am sorry that you didn't like my 'attempt at humor' - I meant no personal offense.

Perhaps you feel I don't respect rules, perhaps yes in this one incidence I violated one - but in no way do I disrespect any of the people who founded this site, or anyone on it for that matter. Do not assume to know who I do and do not respect based on one erroneous post that is apparently a Capitol Offense on a case by case basis.

So, yes, in reply to your final question, I "understand", your suggestions are noted, and I throw myself on the mercy of the court for forgiveness.

  11. Pretty much any HAMBer that showed up but I think it would be cool to tilt a few with Jesse James for sure.

  12. I had lunch with Eisenhower once. I don't think there was anything political about it, but I wouldn't know I wasn't very old. He was a friend of my grandad from the Army.

I think if I were going to slap anyone I doubt it would be for political reasons, even if they were a politician. Although drinking beer with me is a good way to get yourself slapped. Its OK though you can slap me back if you want. :D

He might have a glass of wine with you, but I don't think he ever turned water into beer. I believe most of the mass-produced beers on the shelf are made from urine anyway, which is why the conversion back into urine 20 minutes later is so easy...

There are a lot of names you guys have mentioned that I wouldn't have thought of, but you are right, what you could learn from all of them would be interesting and eyeopening. The reason I selected beer as the medium is that it seems to be a great equalizer......get a few guys around a table with a few cold ones and the stories start flowing. But coffee would work too, I guess. :D

I think, judging by alot of the responses here, those of us that are able , should sit down with a beverage of choice with our kids. maybe alleviate some regrets for them in the future. Great thread ,very thought provoking. sorry , I dont post alot but I felt qualified ( two adult children) to post to this one .

The most fascinating night of my 38 years on this Earth was a night in May, 200(4?) when I got to sit and drink Scotch with Les Paul for a couple hours after a show one night at the Iridium Club in Manhattan. I sat and listened to story after story from that man and never lost interest for a fraction of a second. He is without a doubt THE MOST down-to-Earth celebrity I have ever spent time with (and there have been quite a few), and it makes me sad to know that this planet is without him anymore. He was friendly, humble, well-spoken, and just plain fascinating. And he LOOOOVED Mary (his deceased wife) with all his heart. You could just see the sincerity in his eyes when he talked about her. I don't know that drinking a beer with ANYONE alive today could even compare to that night, and I will never forget it as long as I lived. He was a truly great human being, even apart from his guitar, his genius, and his contribution to the world of music.

  25. That's really cool, man. In the 90's, I got to have a couple of drinks with Barney Kessel.

    Understood...thanks for answering.
I just know how quick these things get ugly and that's not why we're here.
The original poster asked a simple question, and once the red "politics button" gets pushed, the thread's intent gets lost in the tempers and statements that are soon to follow. And that sullies the thread's focus.
I don't even watch the national news anymore on TV. I had to give it up for my own sanity.
So, thanks for understanding and I apologize if I was too gruff.
    Doug :)
