I don't know who Fred Purnell is, but I do know that the car that he was photographed in June 27th 1922 is the 1894 Haynes "Pioneer" Considered to be America's Second car.

The Haynes "Pioneer" was first demonstrated on July 4th, 1894 and now resides in the Smithsonian Inst. Museum of American History and has been on display since it's donation in 1910 by Elwood P. Haynes himself.

Ah, not trying to get in the middle of anything here but I saw pictures yesterday. They were gone soon after.

  6. It's a 42 Poncho, my car, but this dude gave all of his pocket money for some factory accessory overriders, too, a huge amount of steel'n chrome! the plaque in the middle of the bumper shows in a relief-like way the shilouette of the proud Pontiac indian. nice shot, seems to be a proud owner!

    Sure. Here it is: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=534872

Lots of great information and photos. If anyone has any Tucker photos I'm always happy to see them and research them. Just post them up on the thread.

FYI, no need to pass this one along: http://www.laubly.com/1948Tucker.htm I receive it about two to three times a week.

Say that again! He had his Pontiac, his severance pay, the GI Bill, if he wanted that. The best part would have been: Nobody was gonna shoot at him anymore, frag him in his sleep, machine-gun him in the water, throttle him with piano wire on guard duty, feed him K's out of a can (worse, SPAM!) OR tell him he couldn't wear civies and go in town when he wanted to. Tacky or not, LOOKS like a peace-time man to me! LOL.

  13. Sarge seems very happy to be home... more likely sick of flak so thick you could walk on it (judging by his AAF patch) or english mud so deep you could lose a B17 in it!
