Features **1941-1946 Chevy Truck Picture Thread**

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Arrowood Rod & Kustom, Sep 23, 2010.

  1. It's a project for somebody other than me. With these big wheels and tires I'd say it's a 3/4 ton.

  2. It's been awhile since I chatted with the gentleman that owns it, but if you are serious, I will make a phone call and ask.

Hopefully someone will put it back on the road.

  6. Sun shine blue skies, pure motivation for this old boy. Spent yesterday trying to remove the old paint from my 46 (Crusty Crusty #3). Got the bed off and will be back at it this morning.
Crusty Cruiser #1 was dead in the water and required a battery charge and some air in one tire to get it from it's winter hibernation spot.
Crusty Cruiser #2, the dog and I went to the XXX Rootbeer Cruise in for a couple of hours yesterday evening.

Here's my '42 dump from a newbie. This truck is all original and everything works except fuel gauge. P.O. says it has a 261, but tab behind distributor has no #'s, Check out the cool pto all in one pump/valve/cylinder. Even has the original keys. Truck needs brake though, and having a tough time finding parts for the 1.5 ton series.

    Hi everyone!

Found this truck and this hood up here in Montana. Anyone know what this hood belongs to? It says SPECIAL on it and sure resembles a Chevrolet hood but I've not been able to find it on any truck.

I'm not sure about that hood, but from the marker lights I can tell that is 42-46 or early 47 chevy truck. Do you know the exact year? About that hood, the square cut-out that should fit around the fender extension looks too big to be from a 41-46, You Might want to post your question and pics at Stovebolt.com also. Lots of knowledgeable folks there too.
Post back when you find out, I am curious what you find out.
Also, that is an odd placement of the blinkers on the headlight cans..
not where they're usually mounted, which is inboard of the headlights about 5-6 inches.
Oh yeah, you're 1st post should be your introduction, please go to the intro section here:

    Good Luck!

  15. Look for that hood on a late 30's early 40's Buick

  16. Cool truck.
That hood is off of a 1938 Buick Special.

  18. PROGRESS.... Got the body back from being blasted. No more old crappy copper paint. We'll be doing some repairs, filling a ton of holes and get this project on the road this year.

  20. Your truck is looking great John. New bullet? Whatca got for it? 383? 406?
The tunnel looks great, what gauge steel did you use?
Please check your stash of parts and see if you have a spare right side mirror arm. I bought one from one of the suppliers and broke it trying to put it on. It was a cheap off shore copy.
    Enjoy Eagle field.

    Hey Gary,
The engine is a 350, .030 over, nothing special, .500 lift cam, lots of duration, 106 lobe centers, should be pretty fun, i am gonna use a 4000 stall converter,, lol
The tunnel is 20 gauge, check it out here: http://www.cachassisworks.com/p-458-transmission-tunnel-steel.aspx
-- I am going to weld it in, need to modify it a bit,, Now then, right side is passenger side correct, ? I'll have to check,

Thanks Novadude55, I am searching locally and may have a lead on a pair that match the truck ...lol...to me that would be cool for now.

  27. Lockwood, During your search, remember 39-46 rear fenders are the same!
