  11. Certainly not an uncommon thing in the mid 50s to see convoys of Army ordnance on the highway in front of our house. Nike sights were known to exist locally, although exact locations were vague except to those in the 'inner circle' (mostly military).

And during the CMC, nukes were in areas people wouldn't think or believe them to be. Highly classified and secreted away - and likely relocated from military bases known to have them - many areas had nukes on the ready, just in case. While nowadays we talk and laugh bout "duck and cover" and similar exercises back in the day, it was a deadly serious concern during the height of the Cold War. Scary times for sure.

    It must be.
Are those cars Dixie Flyers, or Daniels?

I think they are more likely to be Daniels. Dixi Flyers were only built with a 4 cylinder Herschell-Spillman. The Daniels' with a V8 H-S as in the showroom.

Jean Lloyd, of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, lost control of her Stanguellini Fiat and rolled over in first lap of a 20-lap formula junior race at the Sebring Airport on March 24, 1961 in Sebring. She was not hurt seriously and walked away from the accident

There is a near full size bronze/copper statue? of this aircraft on display in Lisbon. It's impressive.

  25. Thank God for full cages and arm restraints! The new cars may not be as romantic, but they are a hell of a lot safer!
