Hey Jimi, thanks for your very insightful commentary about Jim Crow, and the use of blackface in the American entertainment industry. As an African American, these subjects are of great interest to me.

Recently, I've been reading up on the history of the American civil rights movement, and it was brought to my attention that the last widespread use of blackface was probably in 1964, at the Mummers Parade in my home town, Philadelphia, Pa. In 1965, Blackface was finally banned from use in the New Years day parade, and the nearly all male mummers continued to march dressed as women, but no blackface.

 

Heres a photo I took in 2011 at a museum in Ontario....the body style/lines of this car were years ahead of its time.
