I'm restoring a 62 Mercury Montery convertible. Having a tough time locating a new transmission mount. IMine is broken. I guess I may need to have new rubber vulcanized in eh? Any ideas?

I am thinking that that mount should not be so hard to find. Have you tried all the chain parts stores? If I recall correctly, that style mount was used for several years Ford and Mercs. I probably have some old ones around, but you really should get a new one. Autozone, Advance, O'Rieleys, I would check in that order. Oh, and don't forget NAPA. Good luck, Ron

Yeh, thanx for all the great info. No luck so far with the exception of Mercury Land, who has a rebuilt one (exchange) for 265 bucks.
    Think I'll keep looking...

I don't know if it's worth your time to try, but there is an auto parts store that has been around forever and there motto is if you can't find it anywhere on earth call Mars.I use to deal with them in the 70's and 80's and they stocked everything we needed a ring gear for my broyher in laws 1929 Elco boat with a flathead 6 chrysler and they had it so it may be worth a shot. There phone number is 631-665-0890 they do have an unbelievable inventory, the only problem was they use to charge list price even to shops, so we only used them on stuff we couldn't find anywhere else.I forgot they are on Long Island in NY.

Well, I ordered in some 60 durometer polymer from Forsch to try molding my own. May be too soft, not sure. 33 bucks plus a few dollars for shipping. May be worth a try eh?

  15. If you've a part number, call Bob Allen Ford, 913.381.2999. He had new mounts (gennie Ford) for my '61 Falcon. No books, so he cannot look it up.

I appreciate all of the help. I have called all the recomendations, and many, many more. Googled my days away as well. Seems this mount is for 61-62 Mercury Monterey with Anti-harsh option and was never reproduced. And haven't been able to find any NOS, just the one rebuilt for 265 bucks.
So toay I made my H.A.T.M.M. (Hokey**** Tanny Mount Mold) and poared in the urethane. We'll give it a couple days to cure and see if it works. I'm actually pretty hopeful at this point.

Well, here it is. I'll let it cure for another couple of days, as I'm obviously not in any real hurry. Then we'll give it a try.

Are you restoring this car to councours spec originality? If not, I guess I don't see the problem with substituting any number of other trans mounts, Ford or otherwise.

It would appear that a conventional mount and a some simple brackets would provide the needed support.

save the old mount and just adapt a different one so you can drive it, hell nobody will know or probably care.

I've tried John in Williams. He's a great guy and I may run up to buy some sheetmetal from him soon. But, he doesn't have the mount.
So yeh, my next thought is to adapt the traditional mount shown above. Should be easy enough, and probably even better....
