Well, happy to see this is still going. So, I started working on my '40 again. It's kinda rough, but will clean up and get it through Illustrator. We'll see what happens.
I struggle with reworking drawings in Illustrator or Photoshop for that matter.. I'd like to see the end result of that '40 in AI.
Yeah, I found that out too. I would draw things and then when working in digital, I get lost or can't figure out the direction I'm heading to get the final result.. While looking at Preliminary drawings of some Artists like Lemorris, he has things "mapped out" or figured out before doing it in digital. That, I found is the best example to go about things. So,it takes some planning. As you can see, I'm "mapping out" closed paths with the reflections on the front fenders.
Thanks Nate, thanks Beebing, the '40 looks great! I do my line work on paper then scan it into photoshop. A lot of the time I go right over the blue line but for this one, I wanted a crisper, though not perfect, outline to fit the cartoon theme. The color is all photoshop (or is that obvious?) Loads of layers allow for some tweaking though I try to keep that to a minimum like working with markers.
You're on to something there Doc. Beebing, your coupe needs to be revised to an early 1939... I wasn't thinking earlier, good catch Doc. On the other hand, The U.S. didn't enter the war until '42, after the bombing of Pearl Harbor. It was in '42 that domestic transportation assy. lines were shut down or converted to use for the war, therefore, technically, while you guys and Mother England were already sacrificing blood and treasure, Americans were still buying cars. The '40 may be legit for this challenge... (No "black out" coupes allowed tho...)
I thought the pre-war coupe was when America went to war and auto manufacturers ceased making cars for the war effort?
Doc has a point, this is the "World" wide web. I guess I forgot about our neighbors. I would put this '40 under American pre-war coupe. Would that fly? Otherwise, it's not a big deal, I'm just doing this for the fun of it and I love '40 Fords.
How about we get this Challenge going artists! Good topic and, I know, there are loads of Photographers, sculptors, fabricators, painters, draftsmen, cartoonists, stripers, digital illustrators and modelers out there who could fill these pages for the whole H.A.M/B. family to enjoy and vote on! Le's go boys and girls, don't 'bawk' at this opportunity! (NOTE: Not an official entry.)
when i heard "pre-war" i knew it HAD to be flathead powered, running wire or steel wheels, and have an early stance. needless to say, a banger-powered '27 on wires gets my vote for sure!
Yeah. Still going on. Still need like 15 or 16 more entries, I think? Crap. Now you're going to wipe us all out with your stuff.
Hey art fans! Yes, this contest is still going! I've been trying not to bump it or get too involved. I wanted to make sure this contest ran it's course without me hammering it too much. We are still looking for 32 entries so if you've got something in your head to share get it on paper or whatever and put it up!
