I found this 59 Imperial grill on ebaywatch a few months ago but it had no headlight buckets. I've been searching for some for a while, no luck so i decided to measure the 63 Dodge Polara ones and they were just about spot on. I chopped them off the grill thereby ruining it forever and mocked everything in place and by the gods it looks good. I'm making a pair of filler pieces to bridge the gap between the grille and the buckets, and heavens to Murgatroyd I found my missing bed molding too, I'm on cloud nine.....ten.
I made the passenger side filler piece from scratch, I'll make the other tomorrow then send 'em off to get chromed. The grille and headlight buckets are in primo condition they won't need replating.

That crown would get stolen by some tweaker blingsta in a matter of seconds, but it looks perfect on there. Too bad the Polara grille had to bite the dust, but it is obviously an improvement. Good choice Nadnik.
So true, and that crown looks like something that would be punched aluminum, but it's inch thick cast, the whole grill is cast as well!
Here's the pieces done, ready to send out to get chromed. Backside not so pretty, they're made from 18 gauge sheetmetal and 1/4" round stock around the edges.
And you won't, not here anyway. I'll have to PM it to you because the powers that be will send me a stern message and/or a lifetime ban. My wife painted the Karachi Krusher from my idea, bogus speed shops and Camel Towing have been done to death, nobody promotes fictitious wrestling schools on their doors.
HAHA, I'm surprised no one has snapped a pic at a show and posted it.................50 lashes with a wet noodle. It's like a Unicorn or Stu Hilborn's Streamliner.
Nads, Here is some eye candy for you! (from LostHope's coverage of Santa Maria 2012 http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=702429), for all you've provided. Dig the front bumper!
just to high jack for a minute here's the Severe Bondo Abuse i had to deal with this weekend a long ass criece down the whole right side of my son's Grad. present. i removed about 16-20lbs of the crap! this is only some of it-more to go.
im diggin the new grill treatment nads , i cant wait to see that thing rechromed , keep up the great work
Sent the pieces out to get chromed, Sandy, the delivery girl was impressed, haven't heard back from them about the cost yet. Took my seat in to get reupholstered, it'll be a while knowing my guy, it'll be perfect though, I'm in no hurry. Tonight I was sanding my steering wheel until the deer flies started attacking me, that's lakeside living for you. Talking of which, watched the original The Fly with my son, damn is that a depressing movie.
nice work on the grill, it is the first i have seen like this, very unique and still looks like i belongs.
These grilles are so hard to find but back when they weren't it wasn't uncommon to find them in 59 Chevys and other cars, Bill Hines Buddha Buggy being a fine example. I got lucky I found one in such great shape for a decent price because they are gone. Most people will think it's a 54 Chevy grille anyway.
