I have a pretty nice 33 Ford truck grille I was going to use with my 34 cab. I was wondering if anyone has been successful putting the 34 trim insert and radiator cap trim on a 33 shell. I understand they are prettty much the same grill but Im wanting to make sure before I order the parts. The trim insert I am not to worried about working, but will the radiator cap trim fit with just drilling the holes? I am just not sure if the center peaks on the 33 and 34 are the same.

  2. 34 has more angle and is a deeper shell.

  3. I always thought they had the same angle but I am definitely not a good source for '33-'34 truck information. Of course when compared to a '32 shell the later ones had more angle and a deeper shell. You might try a post on fordbarn.com.

No go on anything but the bar surround trim.

The basic grill will work fine but using the 34 parts on the 33 grill will not work without surgery. The stainless around the grill slats will work with a few holes. The radiator cap and bull nose will take surgery to get a good fit.

33 has the Ford football mounted in the shell itself.

Maybe I will just go with the Ford football of a 33 and the stainless bar surround of the 34. It mught just give it a slightly different look.

The 1934 Grille is one of the best features of a 34 Ford pickup. Get a 34 grille!!!

I agree totally on the 34 grille. I have been trying to find one but everytime I run across one the bottom 4 inches are gone and seems a bit over priced. Until I run across a 34 grille I can afford and is in pretty good shape I will just have to use the 33.

Or, you could go with the stainless & smooth the top.

Thanks. When I got the thing on Ebay about three years ago, someone had cut out the area where the radiator cap was..I have no idea why. But, the stainless grill surround was nice & so were the grill bars. It had the usual rust on the bottom. So, the "smoothing" was a no-brainer. I do like the original look, as well. By the way, "Hot Rod Jen" did the striping.
