I didnt finish this in time for the build off and its still not finished,Im doing the interior right now.....and this was built from spare parts...........
Now for something completely different... A Model T Armored car Built and used in Poland against the Russians in 1919. Would make an unusual build wouldn't it? Have all the panels water jet cut out of 1/8" aluminum or steel , bolt it together.
Nice projects, guys! The chop is looking good, 60Galaxie; is that a large scale kit?. The T armored car is cool! I have a built up from a friend of a WW2 Russian armored car that's based on '35 Ford. Here's my contribution... While casting about for a project to work on after finishing the '59 T-bird I've been cleaning up bumpers for plating, including the ones for this '58 ragtop. I wanted a custom grill so part of the prep process was to ream out the stock grill and cleanup the opening to fit the first choice, a "drawer pull" style grill from an early '60s Aurora parts pack. Each grill is simply a rectangle that needs to be shaped to fit a given opening. Also included are some Chevy and Corvette style teeth, some pointed bullets, and two strips of trim... The bumper I'm using actually came from a trashed PMC '58 Ford wagon friction model and is molded in thick black styrene. After cutting off the bracket, it took quite a bit of grinding to remove the grill and crossbars, then more grinding with the Dremel and scraping with a #11 to carve out a channel for the new grill to fit into. I then made a pattern by tracing shape of the opening onto paper. After cutting it out and fine tuning it a bit, I used the paper pattern to make another out of sheet plastic onto which I marked a center line and horizontal reference line. This'll come in handy should I decide I don't like the new grill. Before transferring the outline of the pattern to the back of the new grill, I roughly cut the grill to size so I could determine where I wanted the round projections, or "drawer pulls" to fit in the opening... Here's the new grill and bumper taped on for a mockup. Looking forward to seeing what it'll look with a newly plated bumper!... Lowered for this mockup, I'm kinda thinking this is close to the final stance!...
Thanks froghawk! Yes its a large scale. Can't think of what size it is because I'm at work right now lol when I bought it I wad told it was kind of a rare model and I said either way I was gonna build it
A lil' late for the party=31 years to be exact! I found the box today, and I had the pic. 2nd place at a hobby store. Pic is June 1981. Wish I was younger, but don't we all........
froghawk, that Aurora grille kit is just too cool. I need to try to find one of those... Bet that will be a tough search or an expensive one...
Cool Stuff. Heres a Galaxie I threw together, and an Impala Im working on. http:// http:// http:// http://
Great work this Sunday. @ Froghawk..Awesome body work. This is a AMT56 Ford. A tribute to the Alexander Bros. 55 Ford Victorian. James aka Joker
Judging by the size & molded color, i'd guess that is Minicraft's 1/16 scale '31 model A pickup. They also did/do? a sedan delivery and a roadster. Decent kits, but they sure test your patience.
My latest build....somewhat OT Pics are of tractor before (red) and after (yellow). Also, trailer body was built from old fluorescent light fixture (before) and became a side-dump trailer. Gary
froghawk dude your skills are awesome id like get one of those old custom grille kits not to metion the 58 fairlane kit
...here's a few shots of some of the models that were displayed at this year's Scrap Drive show in Belvidere, Illinois...
I really don't. Someone told me that he made them from scratch. They really were pretty amazing. Sorry I didn't get more information.
