I'm totally confused by this. What kind of head is that? Looks like the valves are mounted on the bottom side of the head.

A friend's family has always owned that station/cafe if its the one near Palm Springs CA

 

I think these pics are much older then you think,it does look like something built today but look at the cars in the background.

 

I'm with you, those are the genuine article not a posed picture taken recently.

 

At first glance it looks like a modern picture.
