Quality is OUTSTANDING as long as it really fits your application. With your Chevy PU, probably no problem. I'd call 'em and grill 'em before I ordered. With my '50 Plymouth, it wasn't even close to something I could make work. There are "issues" with '50, '51 Plymouths as to vacuum vs electric originals. Other than fit, I was VERY impressed with their product. ****s being a MoPar guy...

quality is good, had them on two cars, my only issue is the 90 degree max swing. I would not use them again if I needed more than that (most cars do). I would use a cable driven set up next time

I've put them in several cars and all just bolted right up and have worked great in my own rides for years. It's worth it to upgrade to the variable+ 2 speed switch. I don't think anyone else is making them. If there is; someone chime in!! BUCKD

  5. I have a 48 Chrysler with a 6volt wiper motor...will anything interchange with it or do I have to get creative ?...My guess is that it wouldn't last very long on 12volts before it goes up in smoke !

  8. I have had one in my 55 Safari for a number of years and the installation was easy.Hardest part was running the wire thru the firewall. The only complaint I had was the set screw for the knob was in a position that would not allow it to be mounted with the lettering reading level due to the proximity to the roll of the dash panel.I notified them about it but don't know if they ever modified them.
If I were to buy another(which I probably will for my 57 Safari)I would definitely upgrade to the 2 speeds.

I have an old one (1996) in my 55, it works ok. The switch is kind of flaky, and it took some work to get the stock knob on it. I have a couple more for my project trucks, but haven't got them in yet.

It's a big improvement over a vacuum wiper system.

i have one in my '39 gmc, it works ok, broke the little aluminum connector when the blades froze up, and when driving over 55mph the blades blow up off the windshield, i think cable is worn but after being used as a daily driver year round in new england a little wear after 20 years is to be expected.

Looks to be quality, but awfully costly, especially when adapting to 6v systems. The up converter (to 12v for motor) is another expensive piece. And then you have to send them your vacuum motor for adapting your drive tang to their motor. The 2 speeds and variable speed units sound like the way to go.

I myself am going a different direction and using a motor from a Jeep or motor from mini van back window. Then do the up converter myself. Some simple sheet metal bracketry and presto! I have at least 6 vehicles with vacuum wipers, so if I were to go Newport way, it would be way too expensive.

Got a kit for my 39 Ford, high mount at top of windshield. It fit exactly as it should. Instructions were right on the money. And, best of all, it works great. Will buy another for my next project.

I put one of their motors in my '46 chevy and it worked great. I tried to adjust the switch, which didn't need it, and I screwed it up. I called them for advise and they said to send it back to them for repairs. It was back to me within a week and there was no charge to fix my screwup. I reccomend them to anyone looking for electric wipers.

I have installed them in quite a few of my cars and trucks; never an issue and always worked well. Strong, silent motors and good self-parking feature.

That is a smart move. I have installed several, have one in my Delivery and about to install one in a 40 Panel. Excellent product and the Galbreaths are great people.

I put one on my 40 Ford coupe and the first time i used it was in an early spring blizzard.A stock vacuum wiper would never have gotten me thru it.

Great stuff. I always said it's the only thing I bought for the sled that fit.

Just put one in my '50 Ford this week. Works great, quiet. Did have an install issue, turns out my fault, but a quick call to them and they emailed two photos that solved my problem (had the underdash wiper arms mixed up). Only thing I see that would make it better would be for them to tack one of the two attachment nuts to the plate the motor is on. My old fingers just couldn't get the nut up there and get it started with just enough clearance to get the nut itself in position. But a dab of epoxy held the nut so I could get the machine screw started. Been raining so much here in east I was tired of the vacuum setup!

If you want to have some leeway in mounting and still have a nice workable system go looking in your local salvage yards for an MGB. Rob the entire system including the transmissions than you can adapt it to your truck. The MG system is cable drive and the motor mounts under the dash on the p***enger side. IT's a really straight forward system and reliable too. The MGB/C/GT series was made in a roadster and a hatchback hardtop (MGB-GT) from 1962 to 1980. Be sure to take the bracket also.

There are some nice units that can be adapted, if that is the way you want to go. One thing about the Newport Engineering kit, is that it fits right out of the box.

I run the 6 volt 2 speed wipers in 48 Dodge on 12 volts, although sparingly. Slow speed is fast and fast speed is real fast. I also keep the Rain-X handy.

Installed a unit into my F1 pickup. Not too difficult to get hooked up, needed to modify the defrost vent on the drivers side. Has the 2 spd switch with park setting, everything has worked great.
