Well, that would be very very difficult indeed. There are certain cars that are just right, and that was one of them.

The good news is that someone in Japan should be very, very happy. My hope is that it doesn't just go in a private collection and get tucked away, but instead gets driven and enjoyed by both the new owner and all of those lucky to see it!

That is a nice little 4 door....but I understand about selling cars...sometimes it just needs to happen for one reason or another.

Sorry to hear this, but sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and move on.
    You'll always have the memories!

I'm sure you will buy/build a replacement that will also give you fond memories.

Some will say "It's just a car", just let it go, don't waste pearls on swine, or pearls on pigs!
Thanks for sharing the car with us!

What a beautiful car you had there! I know in the past I've made up my mind to sell a car and been Ok with it, until it actually gets sold and I see it being driven away, then it hurts. But, onto other projects and memories as building them is half the fun.

  8. my rule book is missing that page ... about not keeping them all... i have to delete your post so no documentation exists about the " imaginary" rule

  9. Sorry to see it go Danny.

I have a terrible time letting my cars go....in fact, the guy who bought my 66 F100 has instructions to give me first dibs if he sells it.

  10. Don,in this case it's gone forever and I'm good with that.:) HRP

Why are there so many of you who don't want to see your cars again? One local says they are like our children. It's sad to see them go, but worse if you were never going to see them again. I don't have any children but I always enjoy seeing my former vehicles. You guys act like they cars are ex-wives. I have one of those and I never want to see her again.

It was sold. Not repo'd. Not burned in a wildfire. Sold. Not liquidated. Not stolen. Sold. Not carjacked and wrecked. Not auctioned off at an estate sale. Voluntarily sold.

I don't understand all the sentiment.

It is a beautiful car that is going to a new owner abroad. Thankfully the seller doesn't have to ever experience seeing it again, driven by a stranger, or worse, rolling on 22s with the Trix rabbit on the side.

I think we should ship em' all over seas' they pay very well.
Japan got all the vintage American guitars in the 80's and prices skyrocketed, why not hot rods?

WOW, I have to totally agree with malgusis. That is one of the finest looking 32 4 doors I've seen. Just perfect.

Hey, lets not forget about all the vintage 501 Levis that ended up over there!!! lol

  19. Thank you,I really loved that old car and it was hard to let it go,,but I had the opportunity to buy back a previous car I built and let slip through my fingers 12 years ago.

I really believe that the simplicity and style of the car helped me make a quick sale.

I had to sacrifice the old 4 door to finance getting my old '32 Tudor back in my possession.HRP

  20. I know the feeling.. I once had a 32 5window I foolishly let go and really regretted it ever since. Love to have the opportunity to get it back...

  21. Well, at least you were able to get it back.....and in the condition in which you sold it. Very few of us can say that......

Still have a few that I miss to this day; 45 years later!

  22. I had a friend point this out today,,,,

Don, isn't it ironic,,you did get the opportunity to find and get your old coupe back,,and from me of all people!:D HRP

    Beautiful Car!

  24. Thanks for the opportunity Danny. I am making some progress in straightening out the problems but there are so many things that need to be redone that I think I may end up just taking it down completely and start over. Here are some things I have started on..
