Customs MY FIRST CAR!! 53 Ford

Cool !

 

Sweet car, even sweeter first car ! I have a love for the 53. My fathers best friend had on when I was a kid. he would just let my brother and me drive it all over his property . He threw me on his lap in that thing when I was eight and let me "drive ".
It was almost my first car at sixteen, untill pops got me a 65 Corvair with Cragars on it ...

 

Keep it up, glad too see young guys that dont have 22's

Great car.. That orange gasser is breathtaking!! btw i completely agree with don about the jackstands, iv had a 67 c10 fall on my chest while removing the axle.. i was running out of breath when my bro dove in and helped me... completely NOT worth the risk!!!! muscle car magazine published a build with the woman laying under her car with only a jack, freaked me out!!! cant wait to see you progress on the old ford..

That is just awsome! I was 14 and inherited my first 54 Mainline from my brother. It was up on blocks and half of the 272 was in the trunk. We made it run and it served as first wheels. There is way more stuff availible for that today than in the middle 70's. I'm currently building my 5th 54 Ford. I made two extra sets of front fender patch panels. I don't know of an aftermarket source for those. PM me and you can just have a pair.

Looks to be headed in the right direction. My '54 ford was/is my first/only car. You get my seal of approval (not that it means very much). Looks like a really nice car, I hope you dig it forever.

great find. my first was a '53 victoria h/t in '65. broke a lot of axles in that car, but murphy's junkyard was full of 'em for $5 apiece. put belond headers and extensions on it with montgomery- ward glass packs. got a 6-cylinder tailpipe for the dual side and it sounded sweet! good luck

Last night we put in the new fuel pump and speedometer cable! Then went for a ride!!

 

The speedometer doesnt work for some reason. Put a brand new speedometer cable in everything fit good and right ! It makes a noise when we drive it .. Any know whats wrong with the speedometer? Thanks

 

is it kinda a clicking noise behind the dash or gauge cluster as you drive? If so its probably doing the same thing my 54 ford is doing, the cable end that goes into the speedo is a square shaft on the end and fits into a square hole on the speedo, if the square hole on the speedo is worn and not square any more the clicking noise is the end of the cable turning in the speedo but not turning the speedo gear......just a thought
