I just called them. They are cast pistons and the kit does not include the timing set or cam kit. Looks like the Flatlander HP kit is the way to go.

  3. The thing is, I'm in it this deep; I want to go with a 4" or 4 1/4" crank. No cranks in those kits.

Make sure the lifters are adjustable. I imagine they are , but make sure. Don't forget to get your rotating assembly balanced.

Speedway motors has a 4" Scat Crank for $700.

These Scat flathead cranks are made from series 9000 material which is the strongest cast material known. Shot peened, ground and micro-polished to original specs. Uses 1949-1953 bearings.
    • Rod Length: 7.000"
    • Rod Pin: 2.138"
    • Internal balance

They also have a 4 1/4" crank. Or you can go with a whole stoker kit from them for $1700.

These 1939-53 flathead rotating assemblies feature new Scat crankshafts, new Scat H-beam connecting rods with 2" journals, Ross forged three-ring pistons, rod bearings, and piston rings. The components are balanced and ready for you to assemble.

I am quite sure that I have read one posting saying that the "balancing" of the Scat Speedway Stroker kit is not all that accurate. Have you researched Moldex? Read all this.

  7. Yeah, you're not going to want to rely on the Scat balance from Speedway. You should also include the flywheel, clutch and pressureplate, and even the pulley that you're going to use on the front, for the ultimate balance.
