The last few days it's been Belinda Carlisle, House Of Schock and Van Halen exclusively.

Can't explain it, but I do my best work when either Babe (Carlisle), House Of Schock or L7 are playing...got most of my engine and light harness made up and installed this afternoon while running through the "Runaway Horses" and "Belinda" album a couple times!

My deal is that if I play anything I care about, it distracts me from what I'm doing out there. I have the garage radio set on the local NPR station that just plays classical music after 6:00 pm. Yeah, it's close to elevator music, but it's BACKGROUND music that doesn't make me want to stand up and join in. Johnny Cash and Warren Zevon get me concentrating too much on THEM, and not the project at hand.
Besides, it gives my wife and me the perfect out to tell the neighbors "we listen to NPR".

My daughter is an avid second hand store shopper, and she knew what daddy wanted for father's day. Some of these are still in plastic.

  22. Last spring, while I was rebuilding my AOD, I listened to Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Michigander and The New Pornographers. This spring, while I am assembling the engine with the transmission and running them in, I'll be looking for something new (Kacey Musgraves?) or go back to playing cassettes of Elvis Costello, James Taylor and Simon and Garfunkle.

A while back I said Jazz and old rock n roll. Well we changed our tv/internet provider and low and behold no, I repeat, no music channels. So now I just plug in the old cell phone, press pandora and listen to jazz and old rock n roll. Oh yeah I’m maturing, found some really bitchen old blues. The hundred bucks we saved on the swap has never gotten out here to the shop, stuck someplace in the wife’s domain.

    Hello,

Talk about putting something off for a later date. It may have come as a shock, but I was sure my build a few months ago was almost bullet proof without adding gobs of glue to hold everything in place. But, it did not think it was going to fall 36 inches to the floor.

This is what I have been seeing sitting in the garage for a month or so. My wife had dropped it in the office and as soon as she brought it to me, I was a little sad. My well thought out project for her at Christmas did not last long. She accidently moved a project she was working on her desk and it made the gazing 55 Chevy ball fall over onto the floor. From desk height the 55 Chevy came apart from the base. It seemed like a simple process and I should have gotten right to it.

I needed to get into the mood to do some repairs to a project I spent many hours creating and doing the detail work before a December deadline. Every time I walked by the lonely project sitting against the counter wall, I kept thinking, I will get to it, tomorrow. I have no idea why I have not just sat down and taken it apart to fix the problem.

So, I told myself that I needed some inspiration in the form of music. Instead of blaring rock music that was used to put it together back in November of 2023, it was now a selection from my collection of jazz music. It was a different way to feel and look at the destruction.

    I selected two songs.

“Burma Road” is/was one of my all-time favorite tracks from one of my favorite non rock albums, this one will never get old.

And another one with the same uplifting feeling while working on a difficult project… Paul Hardcastle “Rainforest.”

The rebirth of the 55 Chevy sedan from the OKC days rests again on its platform. The new 55 Chevy sedan was the one that went from Manhattan Beach in So Cal to OKC and back again within a year and a half of residency in OKC. The family finally found the permanent solution to the dad’s job.

Manhattan Beach in So Cal to OKC...

I was able to finish the repair without sacrificing any larger amounts of glue to hold up the base. It just takes the right type of glue and how fast it sets the plastic parts together. I had to leave it open to air dry for a day or two, just to make sure there were no residual fumes. The work was finished in a no rush method listening to three rounds of continuous play of the two songs from above.
