Something a little different. A mat of mine sent me this pic. He got this new and modified it. Wider wheels, lowered, modified grill (removed the vertical bars) briving lights and mild under bonnet tweaks.

The photo was taken on "The boulavard" in Kew for those in Melbourne, a well known former "race strip"

If you look closely, you can see his fingerprints in the image, he developed it himself and got them on the negatives...

Dang Tuck! Didn't mean to cause you so much work when I posted this picture! I know initially there was a disagreement about where the photo was taken and it turned out that it was taken in Berkley like my friend said he did when he was going to college out there.
Did posting this picture fill in a hole in the puzzle of this cars past or did it just muddy the water? Where you able to determine what number this car is? I would think that the current owner would like having a shot of their car back when it was just a used car!

You are just full of questions today. Tucker #1035 is in Cacapava Brazil. It has been there since 1948.

Four Tuckers were destroyed over the years.

    #1018 hit a tree in 1948
#1023 was in a warehouse fire in Deland FL on 9/29/1978
#1027 rolled over during testing at Indy in Sept 1948
#1042 was scrapped by mistake around 1970

Many of the parts from these 4 cars have been used on other Tuckers.

Tucker #1001 was completed on 3/13/1948. Tucker #1035, the car that went to Brazil, was the last Tucker to roll out the door before the plant closed. The rest were auctioned in October of 1950.

Actually there is another photo of the car at this same location. I had received it several months before yours popped up. The other photo helped to solve the puzzle as it had just a tiny bit more background in it. There is a porch on the building behind the car lot. I recognized the porch while searching Berkeley on Google Earth. I attached the 1954 porch and the 2010 porch photos. You'll notice the edge of the car lot sign on the left of the 1954 photo.

There was a lot of disagreement over where the photo was taken. The Berkeley Historical Society, Berkeley Library, Alameda County, and a slew of others all said the photo was not taken in Berkeley CA. The big problem turned out to be the very short use of the phone number, The Berkeley area changed perfixes in January 1955. The dealer was in business only a short time before and after that date. Also neither photo had the name of the dealer on it. The porch photo proved the location.

This car has a UK "E" Reg, which dates to 1967. - Square headlights didn't ring true for me for early 60's. Not sure but I seem to remember "E" reg ran from Jan 67 to Aug 67 and then cars were registered 1st sept to 31st Aug. so there were less E reg cars on the road as it was only ran for 8 months.

Were you able to determine what car was for sale on the lot in Berkeley? Or is it still unknown?
