Ok Phil, where is that date? Look again. And on that same grey band, the extreme right tells you what post # number it it. And do an introduction , if your going to hang in HAMB town.
It is post #189. I started racing with a 1955 Ford (292), moved to a 1964 Barracuda (340), to a C/Dragster (302 Chevy), moved to short track stock cars, and then to Stock Light Go Karts. During this process I lived and participated in a English sports car junk yard. Now I mentor a First Robotics team and fight fires for hobbies.
Just found this Thread, so I thought I'd share. Sitting in my garage next to the Ed Pink "Old Master" ( Rodders Journal #52 ) is the complete original chassis of the " Honda of Wilmington" AA/FD, pictured above in Tom Davidson's post, (5th photo down). & In my work shop under restoration is the K&G Seed Associates Pictured on page 11 in one of KING CHASSIS'S post's. Love those "60's" dragsters !
I love the details on the 'Older Cars'; something you rarely see in todays examples. This car is a classic example, although my all-time favorite T/F car is the Fighting Irish!
A lot of people believe this was the most beautiful T/F car ever built.[i think the smirinoff car was, just my opinion]. Car was built by the surfers, never raced, sold to the bandel bros. from n.y. The bandels sold it to gordon tatum in md.who raced it for a couple of years without much success. I saw it about 10 years ago in a warehouse tatum had in gaithersburg,MD. all it needed then was fuel and a wash job. latest rumor,I repeat: rumor Tatum died, nobody knows for sure, car is now in the possesion of the landlord. At any it was and is a beautiful car.
the cars from tatum were just aquired by tom hanna-surfers ii -a unmolested rcs-and i think a early 70's red -the news broke yesterday
Wow! I know hanna wanted the surfer car real bad. i heard he tried to get it at the fed auction years ago. the second car was complete and never raced probably about a '71 rcs w/late hemi , The RED was really cool, tatum claimed it was the last dragster John Buttera built. wasn't complete, i remember seeing it w/no body,417 Donavan work of art. if this is true it is good news,3 beautiful cars that can now be seen again.
I agree, especially when Tatum owned it. IMO, the prettiest TF car of all time. Man that thing was nice. Anther real knockout was the Starlighter 5 car. And the circa '65 Frantic Four/Airline Auto sales lime gold flake car. I have another pic of the Tatum car, but i cant find it right now.
Heres the other pic i had of the Tatum car. Had it filed under "Hanna" instead of TF. Found it while I was looking for pics of Hoovers candy maroon car with the woodgrain...
well this isnt the one I was thinking of, but its a start. Somewhere I have several pics of an earlier version of this car with a shorter wheelbase, darker maroon paint with no contrasting fogging and a chrysler, but the same simulated woodgrain panels on the tail. I would guess probably '66/'67?? I'm wondering if maybe they are on my old computer.
Found 'em. PRETTY car. Looks like the woodgrain was actually real! Guess this is the Hanna "Country Squire" model...
