Projects One Belgian projet - One Belly Tank to Bonneville

    HI,

    I'm Alexan, I showed up in the appropriate section :D

    Already, sorry for my english :eek:

    This is our history :rolleyes:

    We are three friends (Raphaël, Carlito, and Me), and our project is to build a Belly Tank, to drive to Bonneville during a Speed ​​Week, possibly in 2014 or 2015, the date is not important, the most important, is to be bonneville and not to have bungled our dream.

    Drop the tank was purchased in Florida, then moved to Los Angeles, from Frog Specialties.

    It is a tank in 1950, manufactured by Republic Aviation Company, certainly a P51, there is a plaque with data, but we can not decipher them, maybe someone of you could in more, I will put a picture later.

    Now things serious, taking measurements to see if our ideas are good, the clutter level engine, gearbox, ...

    The reservoir will be powered by a 350 chevy engine, gearbox TH700r4

    Now that we know where to start, it is bent tubes according to plan.

    We must cut the tubes to size, and make them connect. Tubemiter is an excellent program.

    One question: I noticed in the fourth picture, you had the radiator sitting in front of the engine. I do not see a radiator in the mock up pictures. Where is it going to fit?

    You had better get a Bonneville Rule book from SCTA. What you show will not pass saftey
    inspection and will not be allowed to run. Check out landracing.com a lot of good information available on this site,

    Oh oh, this isn't good! Could you, perhaps, be more definitive as to why the tanker won't pass safety? A blanket statement such as this really isn't being helpful if you, in fact, know what is wrong and don't point out the real issues. These guys are building their dream and I just think that we should be helping if we can. Isn't that what the H.A.M.B. is all about.

    Notwithstanding my comments above, an SCTA rule book is an imperative, that's for certain!

    34Gaz: Yes I heard that there was a Dutch Belly, I am in contact with a certain Erwin, I think it is part of the team. Thank you for the information.

    LSR 2909: Yes it's true, as well enjoy it, if we can do two races, it would be great, provided you have anything damaging.

    Speedy Canuck: the radiator be placed differently than on the Mock up, it will definitely be above the gearbox.

    Berring Burner: We have the rule book, and we follow the rules, the chassis has already been approved by the SCTA, he is greatly missed and the thing working, we have the Bible in our work, which is normal. If it is in relation to the tire, rim, it is for the show, obviously there will be other tires and rims, specific speed races. Thank you for your link, I will not miss going there.

    Oldan Krusty: Thanks for your note, it's true that it's easier to answer, when you have all the comments. And it's true that if we want to be homologated for racing Bonneville and others, it is better to have the Rules Books, this is the first thing to have.

    I was more concerned about the lack of roll cage . Head restraint, lack of shock anbsorbers on the front axel. The frame looks good. I have an 1965 era belly tank ane we have been building a rear engine lakester for many years however there is and end in sight.

    I can see in the drawing where the roll cage will go. And I am sure that shocks will also be added as construction continues. Don't forget gussets. I am sure you know about the rule for them.

  24. Two thumbs up! I like the CAD blueprint and seeing ow you template for the 'fishmouth" of the tubing out of cardboard. Keep at it fellas!

    very kool project indeed
    looks like it's going in the right direction
    if you need parts or anything try contacting the trashers cc in the netherlands
    they have a stranded bellytank project with a few things on it
