Front straightaway at Heidelberg Raceway just outside Pittsburgh. Some of the ones I know: V-2 is***** Linder, 1-A is Joe Mihalic, the car behind the #7 I believe is Herb Scott's #180 and the 33 is Bill Wolken. Boy, does this take me back to my youth. The Pittsburgh Racing****n. drew some enormous crowds with some of the best dirt track racing around. These guys were my heroes!

top of page, top photo... I think its a shame that the little fast back was never produced as it may well have outsold the Marlin, and been a much more serious contender in the early pony car wars. Is it a one-off? Still around?

Pic posted by SWI. Yup, in my op, this was a TRAGIC mistake on the part
of the company.:( The short-WB version was what***** Teague preferred,
too. As a dumb-ass kid in the '60s, the bigger version just didn't seem to me
to fit ANYPLACE in any market niche. Like a car that couldn't make up its
mind what it wanted to be. So, the little pony cars just ran off with the
market. AMC did much right in the lower-price markets. But HERE was one
case where they screwed the ol' pooch. Shot themselves in the foot.

So its race cars you want now... How about Smokin' Joe Merola running his Tucker in NASCAR?

This car is the second oldest NASCAR automobile still in existance !

I guess Corvair lovers will like this photo as well as it is a rear engine car :)

Do you have any info on where, when and how many races he ran in this Tucker? And the results?

    Funny thing...........
I was actually a fan of the Tucker when I was a kid, and even had some literature about it including the 1948 Tom McCahill Road test, and the later re-test.

The Corvairs came later to me.
Could it be because I will never be able to own a Tucker, I settled for another rear engined car?????
