glad to see your gettin it back together, BTW what did you put on the gears to read the pattern? Tim Jones
Tim I bought a rebuild kit from Fabcraft in Texas and the kit was actually complete in every way, even including the gear mesh paint, great company to do business with and Brad knows these rear ends! Now for all those who are wondering.......... ADD Gear lube stupid!!!!!! had a good day today........... She's back together and now to do a little run in up on some blocks, then its off to test n tune!!!!!! Of course then there is always the worst job of it all.............. Dale Virg and Trent, thanks for your comments, now I'm smiling again!!!!!
Yea Tim we got back at 11:30, man I didn't relize you lived at the border.......... Had a good time for the short period we were there, and that restruant was good, great choice!!
Iffin it were me I would have to build a room for that compressor motor and actually make it run. "Hey, go in there and flip on the compresser for me will ya?" The looks would be priceless.
I needed to get this thing off the ground so modified my pipe stand to work Then it was to try this pig out!!!!!
Congrats Carl! Awesome job. I always enjoy looking at your updates... please keep em coming. Thanks for the great videos!
Yea Tim I will get a hold of Jack and see if the 20th looks good its a friday at 6 pm Thanks greaser........... Trent ... I can always say its a Edsel Ford Expiremental race motor..........
Nice torquey sounding little flathead Carl. I think I heard a pop or two in the knees while getting in and out. Thanks for the vid. Vergil
Sounds great, looks great, everything works ready to race! Hope to see you and the dragster at Mokan!? Br Kjell ............................ Now the Sidewinder
Car sounds Great just like always, Had to laugh watching you get in and out of the car, After starting to add the cage on my car I relized I have to change a cross brace above the rear end because my left knee doesn't bend far enough anymore, HMM maybe should have gottin that fixed years ago. Tim
Yea Tom I hope i never have to get out in a hurry specially with all my safety gear on, damn that would be rough............ And yes Virg all the joints groan now.......... Wayno yep hope to meet ya eye to eye sometime soon..... 296 ........thanks Kjell........ sure would love to make it to Mokan this year we'll have to see whats in the cards..... Tim make sure you have enough room, man its tight in there with all the safety gear on and the big fat helmet for my big fat head!!
Well got to work on the blower manifold design but had to stop and pick up my copy of Jolopy Journal, that put a hold on things for a while.......... Very nice Job Ryan!!!!
The 4x2 will go on before the blower just for kicks and to see if it makes any difference, I am going to use the 4x2 as a base for the blower manifold and just build a plenum above it to feed the eight inlets seems simple to me.............. Looks something like this......
Well, well, well................... after 10 years of thinking I had lost an old friend, what to my surprise do I find in a section of the ol toolbox that I haven't looked in in a long time................. A little preface to the photo, I have had this on every car I have owned since 1964 when I put it on my brand new Impala, and it has been on almost every hot rod since then, now it will be on the dragster!!.................... Bought a new tool box for my lathe tools and had to clean out the old one..
Glad you're not hacking up the manifold! You might consider a fairly thick bottom plate (say 3/4") then do a nice big radius blend into the 8 ports. Also, having a thick bottom plate will help reduce the tendency to warp when it is welded. If you need any CAD help, just let me know - will be happy to lay it out in 3D if you want any CNC work done. Keep cranking Carl!
WOW!! Seeing that tapper gave me a hangover just remembering the old days It will be a nice touch for the dragster, Tim Jones
Actually the bottom plate is .575 because thats what they had on the shelf at my local supply joint and I figured with the 12 attachment points it should be all right for a start until I can build my foundry and cast my own manifold. Thanks for the offer of the cad, maybe later when I design the cast manifold, hint, hint. Also I will be real careful on the welding process to keep bending to a minimum................ Yea Tim that was given to me by my best friend in high school many moons ago and I think it would look great on the digger, thats todays project!! He was also a flathead nut...............
