I picked up some willys parts yesterday in Orange county and some of it blew off my truck on the 10 freeway. I heard a clunk in the back and knew i lost it but wasn't sure if it hit anything as i couldn't see because the truck was loaded. So I decided to step up to the plate and called the Highway patrol to see if there were any reports. Most people wouldn't have done that and I guess I'm not sure if I should have. Thankfully no one was hurt but it did land on a new mini cooper and crack the windshield and scratch the hood. I'm sure it'll cost me but I won't have to look over my shoulder constantly.

You did the right thing. Without a doubt. Nowadays most people would just keep going because they don't have the balls to take responsibility for their actions.

Good on ya, you will probably also get a fine from chp for failing to secure your load. thankfully you didnt kill anyone. last month someone on the freeway here lost something and a motorcyclist lost his life. the guy turned himself in after he heard the report
im always a bit nervous when hauling anything on my trailer but am much more aware of checking every little thing now.

Sorry about the parts, but well done on the call. My girlfriend was driving her Mini Cooper up to my house one afternoon about 4 years ago and a a drywall square fell off of the truck in front of her... Long story short, she showed up sheet white babbling a mile a minute with a drywall square impaled THROUGH the right side of her windshield and stuck firmly in the p***enger seat! Could have been really bad if it was the other side of the car...

Sometimes, being a grown up ****s. In this case, it cost you a bit of dough but you did the right thing. And hey, at least 7 people now know that you're a good man
I didn't know that until now.
I like the "you are responsible for your own feet" line. Good one.

Not many people like you left anymore. If you were the one in the Mini Cooper I am sure you would want someone like you to take responsibility for your actions or inactions. good move. Now go back and see if you can retrieve your parts.

likely some member of the local jail roadside clean up crew will find the part - maybe will be a car guy. not many would do what you did.

Good for you for stepping up and doing what should be a no brainier really - but not many people have that much integrity these days.

And hopefully everyone reading this will learn from it. Tie your **** down in your truck! I can't believe all the stuff i see on the freeway (ladders and mattresses are #1), not to mention all the **** I see hanging off trucks and trailers heading to the Pomona Swap Meet or LARS

YOU ARE THE COOLEST!! It just so happens that the inner fenders was exactly what flew off my truck. I don't feel comfortable with taking freebies but I want you to know that it is an awesome invitation and it shows the outstanding character that you and I share. I would love to buy your inner fenders if they are decent and are you able to ship them? I can paypal you and I will absorb the paypal fees as well. I have a little girl that takes a lot of my time but would love to call you when I get a minute if you would like.

good luck on the whole deal sorry to hear about it, but as said way to man up

  29. Call it karma, god, what comes around, goes around, whatever. This will come back to you in a good way. Its nice to know there are a few decent people left. Now for the legal part. If your parts hit the ground before they hit the cooper its his fault. If they hit the cooper right out of your truck, your fault. Good luck
