Bought a 65 Nova last summer that im trying to build in some kind of 60s "backyard race car" style :D

This is what i started with.

Engine dident hold up long, oilpressure went down an i decided to take it out and get something better.
Theres a 350 with shift kit and better converter,12bolt rear with 3,73.

Wanted some nice slicks in the rear so the old wheelwells had to go.
Found some nice suprise under all the plastic.

    Got the Towelcity slicks mounted.

They were big so i had to take 2inch out of the rocker to get them in.

Looks good. That body style makes a good looking rod.

Had a '65 Nova a few years back myself. I love the '62-'65 body style.

That is one crazy period style paint job!

You're doing very nice work from what I can tell. Keep it up!!

That is a serious psychedelic paint job! Got any close ups of the airbrush work? Fender work is looking good.

Makes me miss my 65 SS I had years ago. Pretty rare car, only made 9,000 of them. The rarest of all nova SS cars ( besides the the 1975 but that year doesn't count)
I welded steel rods in the trunk of mine and added some weights when I raced her because she was so light in the ass.

Some mock up for the wheel opening, used some masking tape to cover the holes so i could se how it looked.

Some spotwelding to get it fitted and them some more welding and grinding.

Some new metal in the trunk/inner fender.

Rust repair to get some fresh metal to weld the wheelwell in.

The bottom of the rear seat bracket was rusty too.

looks pretty nasty with big tires - keeping that rearend? what drivetrain will be running? I had a '65 SS with a '65 Vette blueprinted 365HP 327.

My goal is a 400hp engine, dont know exactly what but it will be a small block.
I will use the TH 350 and the 12bolt rear end.

    I think a 65 is ok if i build it right ;)

64' is the cutoff but I think I read here that 65' looks identical to 64' on most cars so Ryan will let it slide. Cool build.

Thats a really cool Nova you got there.
Nice with Cragars, some big slicks in the back would be nice.
    The front tires look perfect.
