Wagonmaster is uber cool but not really a funny car.

  5. I'd certainly have to agree...exhibition car for sure...but not a F/C.;)

I snapped this version @ the Reunion in '08,great piece of machinery:

  6. Been busy and forgot...sorry guys.

We took the car to the Reunion last year and it was a wild time to say the least.I spoke to Ron Pelligrini before the event to see if "Super Bird" had ever ventured into the west coast and he said no...I knew Ingenue had never been run anywhere other than the eastern seaboard so this was the very first time it was shown on the west coast...and the response was insane.

I picked up far more leads talking to transplanted east coasters who remember seeing the car run so that was super cool...here's a few pics from that wknd and the new shirt design I had famed east coast drag illustrator Joel Naprstek draw up for me...we went from this:

    To this:

And finally to this on a shirt:

    And then really nuts,lol:

Showed the car one time locally at an Air Faire here in Marina, which got lots of attention:

"Jungle Pam" Hardy was on hand and stopped by to chat...what a wonderful lady:

Steve Strope from www.purevisiondesigns.com who's doing the tribute Ingenue street version:

Which led to this reader-submitted photo of Ingenue and Bill Jenkins Grumpy's Toy...wild!

Which led to me meeting Bob Snyder ( www.bobsnyderdragphotos.com ) and these original pics of Ingenue, which I bought in large-format sizing:

Look at how beautiful she was when she was new...!

Only time I've seen these red alloy finned v/covers:

Which led to this photoshoot taken locally for Swedish publication Gasoline Magazine ( www.gasolinemagazine.se ) which will be out in March...Hollywood Hank is the expert lensman here:

Hank also shot my '69 Z/28 Trans-Am tribute car for a sister publication Fuel magazine ( www.fuelmagazine.se )...but that's another story, lol:

I take it the car does not run? I also see in some of the newer pics the magneto seems to be in avertical position rather than facing the front of the car the way your dad engineered it. Are all the super cool one off parts your dad built long gone? It sure would be awesome to see this fired up at some of the cacklefests.

  11. Hey thanks man,I would love to have a copy,I will link it to my site www.buickfunnycar.com once it's up and running...!;)

  12. Scot,

You're right, car presently does not run but it is my dream to make some 8-71 Blown Buick noise at some point soon...gotta move some musclecars to free up funds first...wifey's orders, lol.:p

I staged the mag in the vertical postion for the HRM photoshoot, you're right it doesn't belong that way,it should be front mounted and driven off the cam as was original but yeah, all those one-off pieces are long gone, including the combo timing cover/mag mount/crank girdle that dad cast then machined.
No worries though,I don't have to go back to that route in order to make some noise, especially in the advent of crank triggers. We'll figure something out,it's not like it's ever going downtrack again...

Sweet, glad to hear you have plans to get her poppin' again, it is too bad about all the one off pieces being gone but thats what happens to these old racecars when they get obsolete and put out to pasture!

    Thanks,

    Scot

  14. I hear ya...I'm just lucky to have what I have, someone was smart enough to store this car indoors most of it's life after the racing stopped in the early 70's,original pieces to the car include:

Body (super heavy...got to be at least 500-600#'s)
    Chassis
    Rearend
    Wheels
    Blower/manifold
    Front tires (yes...original!)

World's only Buick-powered Buick Funny Car

Didn't Dale Paulde run a Buick F/C back in the late 60's maybe early 70's ?
The War Horse or War Eagle something like that ?

  22. I believe Pulde ran a Buick Reatta as did Kenny Bernstein with the Buick "batmobile" but neither were dumb enough to go Buick powered, lol!

This car remains the world's only Buick-powered Buick funny car...

That's awesome to finally see a competitive Buick powered Buick in a top class. Hats off to your dads vision and to you for pulling it out of a museum for all to see. Do you sell those shirts as I would love a couple. Also it's great to see photographic proof of an 8V-71 blower in competition as most everyone except for Dean Blowers says they are worthless. Actually they fit between the valve covers much better than the wider 6-71 or 8-71.
