The build always comes out better when you go into it with a cohesive plan. Your project has vision, and it shows. Great job man, keep it up.

Alright pulled the front clip back off to start cleaning up the firewall and couldn't resist had to jack with the grill a little. Thought I'd snap a few pictures and get everyones opinion on what they think custom grill wise to go. I don't have them yet (they are on there way), but I will be running 53 cadillac bezels will a custom brow and I want to run the 54 front bumper. I think it will complement the 54 mercury rear bumper better. Here are a few pic to get the juices flowing..... 53 grill surround with 54 pontiac center piece
I really can't decided. Feel free to give your opinion.... This area on the 54 grill area and splash pan with give me issues, but can be modified to accommodate the 54 top bar.
To use the 53 grill surround on the 54 front end some adjustments will need to be done, but really shouldnt be that difficult. Do ya'll think the poncho center piece looks to bulky in the 53 grill surround? Keep in mind that the 53 grill surround will need to be molded in, I believe much like this one done by Sacramento Kustoms
Is there anyway you could use the 54 turn signal housings with the Pontiac center. From the pictures it almost looks like it would match up pretty close. Also not a fan of the Pontiac center in the 53 housing, just my 13 cents.
Yes it would be fairly easy to do, but honestly its the easy way out. I've seen a photo of one done that way and it really doesn't look that good.
Hey Eric... I've been watching your progress and its coming along great! As far as opinions...I like the idea of using the 54 grille surround with the pontiac center, but bullets are a must lol! Even if its just one in the center. just my 2 cents. I have been thinking about a face lift on my own bel air. I want to do a 54 grille surround with the 53 center-piece with bullets of coarse! Cant wait to see what you end up with good luck man! Chris
few things I have found in my 53-4 travels if you run a 53 surround you need to run a 53 front bumper unless you do it like the pic you posted above, otherwise you have a bumper that sticks out in the corners and it looks a little goofy as the 54 bumps out in the corners and the 53 does not. also if you want to keep the 54 front, section the bump on the edges of the valance so that they are inline with the top bar and mould it all in I have a buddy that did that with hs 54 and it looked awesome, he also just took the 54 grill, deleted the turn signals and narrowed it a bit and it fit wonderfully in there!
