Thanks for all the info, we keep on playing phone tag :D

Now that I look at it I think you are right about it being a 54 top bar to made look like a 53 surround. Everything else in my mind came together easily, but this area is giving me hell, it could make or break everything I am going for.

I agree, but thus far you've had a good eye for everything so don't give yourself too hard of a time.

Also I will strongly encourage you to not back away from something just because its been done before.

I had this arguement with a good friend of mine a while back and he was giving me flack about putting 56 packard quarters on my 54 because its been done before, I asked him who does he know personally in our area that has them? he said no one, I said, exactly...

And I am hella glad I did because my 54 imho looks rad with those quarters~

Man I agree 100%, I don't know of any 54 with the treatments that I'm doing around here. I found someone who will swap his 53 for my 54 front clip. It might be easier to do that and possibly modify the splash pan to accommodate the 54 front bumper. I think the 54 pontiac grill section will need to be shortened a little to make it look better, so we will see....Thanks again

Sorry for the lack of updates, been extremely busy with work, family stuff and new baby on the way. I decided to take the car to a couple of local guys (Manuel & Roger) to fix some of the bad rust areas, set the motor & tranny and do the taillight treatment. I'm going by tomorrow to give them a hand and I'll snap a few pics.....Later

Been lacking on the updates, my car is with some local guys Manual and Roger who are doing one hell of a job doing the necessary things to make it right. They repaired some of my welds so I started the Por-15 on the front....

Something that bothered me about the 4 link setup was the amount that needs to be trimmed out of the floor and how much the rear seat has to be modified. So I got to looking at how they set up their cars and talked to a few of their club members and they have had no issues running a 2 link with a panhard bar and they way its looking no floor pan modification.....

Heading over there tomorrow I'll update y'all later

Thanks, the re-do on the rear end is all Manuel and Roy, it is now a two link with a panhard bar....I will post some more detailed photos of that when we separate the body from the frame again. Plan is get steering linkage done, then 54 merc bumper and taillight then separate the body. I'll wire wheel the frame, por-15 it, run brake & fuel lines, set the 327 & turbo 350 and then we will put the body back for the last time

Probably 3 in front 41/2 to 5 in back with a 51 Chevy back glass.

Alright here we go updates, we pulled the body back off the frame tonight for some welding then painting of it this weekend. Maybe you'll notice the 4 link is gone and is now a two link with a panhard bar

With this setup, the motor is able to not ride so high. Still the front crossmember is the lowest point in the drop. The tranny crossmember is removed and a new one fabricated that is removable. So with all that the transmission tunnel needs no modification, front and rear seat do not need to be modified making life a hell of a lot easier. Lord I wish I would have done this in the first place.....

I believe, I'd have to check with Manuel, but the rear end is set at 5 degrees down and once at ride height comes back to 0 degrees...

Last pic until frame clean up and paint this weekend.....The gas tank bracing is fabricated and welded in

Is your rear air bag set up just so you can (for lack of better words) play with the linkage and set up? Or is that how your going to run your rear bags, though that "T"? If so aren't you concerned about air exchanging from one bag to the other during turns?

    ps loving this build thread

Like you said to play with it, the front has the same set up. It's just a cheap set up to make sure everything is functioning correct. It makes it easier when you need to move the car around.

    Thanks everyone

Man, this is lookin great, love where this is heading, that avatar pic is sweet, but it leaves the front end to the imagination, I like the 53 surround with the Poncho insert and Caddy parks, I wish I had done that with my old 54, I did a 55 Buick grille with the 54 top molding, and didn't like it when I was done which aided in my selling it for my Riviera. Keep up the good work, it looks great!..Brian

I have a few ideas that I'm sitting on. The 53 surround with poncho insert is one but I'm kinda of leaning away from that but we will see. I'll keep y'all on the fence with the other ideas for now....thanks for the complements
